This is a new quality of life improvement for those of us who wake up in the middle of the night wondering, “is there a clippy lint for this?”

Marco Ieni@ieni.dev

Clippy has a new homepage! 👋 Goodbye rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/ 🏠 Welcome clippy.rust-lang.org/

My eldest has been dying to play “the video console” ever since I brought out my Gameboy Advance to show her older cousin. Yesterday I introduced her to a couple of games, one more of a classic than the other.

Social media is weird. I follow @aliettedebodard.com because I really enjoyed a book they wrote. Today I realised I’ve been mis-gendering K1 in my head since always. But I don’t know these people. But I feel like a know them a little bit. Weird. Anyway, sorry about that, it should be a compliment.

K1 decided to wake up to "Barbie Girl" Plus points: he left for school dancing Minus points: I've got the song on repeat in my hand Neutral points: K1 left dressed in pink pastels (I think it's great he does that, but i did warn him school could be rocky. He said he likes pink. More power to him)

First time I’ve seen Bluesky mentioned in popular media. It’s from “Casi un Millón de Horas” by Juan González Mesa (who appears not to be on Bluesky himself).

Do you manage a team working with Rust and some other language? Any other programming language. I’d be interested to know how that’s working out with respect to motivation to work on each part of the project. I’d love to hear stories! Let me know!

This morning we’ve had a 4.7, 4.0, and 4.2 magnitude earthquakes all within 8 Km. So it’s shaping up to be an interesting day, but not in the best way.

Stitch goblins, they sneak in while you’re looking the other way and steal stitches. Then they take them and add them to someone else’s project. #knitting

For the programmers amongst you, stitch goblins are a close relative of code elves, who do the same thing to your code. Of course the kids these days call it AI programming, but it’s been happening long before that was a thing.

On one hand, this is first rate trolling, but I’m not sure that’s what you want from an LLM chat bot.

first impressions on the new deepseek 4 flash: what.

I’m not much for spectator sports, so I’m following the semi-final mostly by checking the score after I hear our neighbours cheering. #LaRoja

Child 2 (1.5y) recently recognised and named the numeral 6, entirely out of context. They then did the same thing with a hand written numeral a few days later. With great trepidation, I wrote a 7… 1/2

…they also called it 6. In fact, they call anything that looks like a numeral, 6. So that’s one crisis averted, for now. 2/2

We’ve got the sort of temperature today that once you finish hanging out a load of washing you can start taking it in again as it’s already dry. #hot

Look at these cool Rust async tide and surf stickers that I had at home! The tide one was used to cover up a corporate sticker on a laptop that’s going to our nephew. Lucky him!

Child 1 got a sewing machine for their birthday. So now I have a new hobby. And TikTok knows I have a new hobby. Which is fine, it’s cool to see a new culture. I am a little baffled by the guy in the cowboy hat though… (great content, but why the hat?)

It's actually pretty incredible to open up a file in your own (domain specific) language and see in-line diagnostics and be able to jump to references. Wow!

If you're using @atuin.sh, you can hit ctrl+o to enter the command inspector and see which directory you last ran the command in last, when, and even scroll through commands in that session with up and down arrows. It's amazing!

It seems I’m up to the “drilling holes in walls” stage of pest control. (actually the back of a cupboard, but close enough)

I’m up to the part of amateur plumbing where I’m cutting through a metal pipe with what I think is a hobby hack saw.

Open source maintainers be like: Thank you for that stack trace, I will now proceed to diagnose your problem without access to your code base or any idea what it does. Here are instructions to confirm my hypothesis which will also tell you the place in your code where the problem originates. 1/2

Just randomly came across this message in our application logs (we returned an HTTP 400 to a user request and this is the reason why): Invalid If-Modified-Since header value: Sat, 31 Feb 2026 17:58:16 GMT #devLife #LongestFebruary

Hitting yourself with a hammer recreationally was predicted by the Australian author David McRobbie in his 1993 book “Waxing with Wayne”. Just sayin’

Until I saw this I wasn’t sure that Amos actually had a surname. It was always “Amos (fasterthanli.me)”. Like if Madonna had been a blogger.

@orhun.dev do you know of a TUI that will track and graph CPU and memory usage of a single process over time? I haven’t been able to find anything, but I figured that if anyone would know, you would.

I just wrote a #rustlang function with two `u64` parameters next to one another, decided to change the order, and then shivered at the fact that the compiler didn't know the right order. Immediately changed the type of one of the parameters so that they are now different.

You’re not real Aboriginals. You don’t wear a lap-lap and hunt for your food, or live in a bark humpy! Why is it white Australian culture can evolve but Aboriginal culture is not allowed to or risk being classified as not Aboriginal? Simple answer - Racism.

Received an email at work: This is a long email thread and I do not have time to review in detail and try to respond in email. I suggest scheduling a 30min sync up meeting to review/discuss. Read-o-Meter says: Estimated reading time: 7 minutes, 15 seconds. Contains 1451 words
