I wonder how well CI -aaS platforms are doing these days. Do their backs hurt from all the cartoon moneybags they have to carry around? If you're using CI, check your dashboard to see how much more execution is being driven by ol' claudie-claude

We have a team of four astronauts going to the moon and back, but there's a group of people online concerned with how Apple and Nutella may not capitalize on the marketing opportunity since their products are being used in space... The grindset is real and I don't know how I feel about it

UpdateWithSideEffects I'm working on upgrading an older repo from an even older version of ReasonML The amount of buggy code caused by untangling reducer calls with side effects is through the roof I remember when the team begrudgingly added in the escape hatch, many moons ago, how dirty we felt

Since HTML, CSS and JS are so fault tolerant and backwards compatible, does that rub off on frontend people? Do we feel more accommodating? More empathetic?

It's been over a decade since my team launched messenger.com - I made some great friends on that team. Today I noticed the sunset banner and felt incredible nostalgia and longing. I'll be using the heck out of this little webapp that could until it goes

After manually(!) reviewing prolly some 50k lines of ai generated slop code this past year: Writing code that does what you want it to do is kinda easy these days, albeit at a junior to mid level Getting LLMs to help you properly refactor is quite a frontier. It's absolutely not solved

With how easy it is to generate new code that works in isolation: Do we even need refactoring? Did refactoring ever really help the experience your product was providing? Like, I'm old enough that it did for me, but is that still true?

As a society, we need a solution to tech debt incurred from vibe coding to fix vibe coded code I'm manually poring over some insane shit rn. inb4: "you just need to add better guardrails and write more CLAUDE.md docs" I prefer to fight fire with water

Remember when it was reasonable to expect your flight to at least depart on time? I feel like 80% of my flights from the past 12 months were super delayed Can someone explain or am I imagining it?

So excited!

ReScript@rescript-lang.org

ReScript 12 is here! A major step toward a leaner, faster, simpler toolchain. This release refines the language and embraces ReScript’s own identity. Blog: rescript-lang.org/blog/release... Notes: github.com/rescript-lan... Huge thanks to everyone who helped move ReScript forward.

I don't know what Google or Fitbit did, but my pixel watch gen3 has gotten a massive battery life bump with last week's update - I'm still on Thursday night's charge

Oh, man! Oh, boy! Oh, geez!

Chrome for Developers@developer.chrome.com

Match URLs with a powerful, standardized syntax using the URL Pattern API → goo.gle/47iTr3o Now part of Baseline, this API provides a built-in way to create URL pattern matchers that can be used against URLs or individual URL components.

A few days ago, I started focusing on photography again. I dusted off my very old camera (Sony a6000) and took it out for a spin Found this cheeky #hummingbird

A pigeon was perched on my office's flag pole. I said 'sup and it looked at me While maintaining eye contact, it took a shit on my company's flag So that's my day. How are you?

My apologies to @container and @eng for random mentions in our github PRs - it's real cool when github auto-tokenizes your commit message body except when it's not lol

In Sweard, AK, when the coffee shop is closed, they just give you a free cup of diner style filter coffee so set you straight. Free. Out of a closed coffee shop Like, what is this place?

There's a ridiculous amount of cool stuff! They ate!

I'm old enough to have used mm Dreamweaver and get annoyed at the code it generated. Figma Sites seems like a great way to get a prototype up and running, but the majority of the generated code would need to be thrown away in order to ship a good website

Kevin Powell@kevinpowell.co

During my livestream yesterday, I talked about Figma Sites for a little bit. I've broken it off into a short, stand-alone video. I don't normally like bashing a company, but when a company of Figma's size makes a product this bad, I think it's important to call them out on it. youtu.be/ZsFIvULxkHI

The only weird thing was the PublicPascal, protectedCamel function name thing I can see where they're coming from, but there's an inevitable compile step so... Idk

I heard the (data, error) pattern is the most annoying part, but it's basically the same check Either which I use in rescript and we all know :ok, :error in elixir I'm saying I'm already a fan of very explicit error handling so this felt great

Let's integrate Twilio into an existing React Native app that has no custom native modules. The amount of magic config and the scattered documentation is making it downright annoying. Do I know anyone who's done something like this who could answer a couple of questions?

Is there a service that can "watch" an edited video and its source(s) and determine if the edited video is misleading or taking things out of context or not aligned with the source material? Should we build it?
