With $130 million, we can buy 100 MRIs to cut wait time for 1000s of Alberans or buy 600 Ambulances prevent Albertans from dying while waiting 85 minutes for an Ambulance ride to hospital. I very sorry to say that our Premier has decided to spend that on a referendum that's dividing Albertans. 🖕

I agree 💯. I hate the racist and exclusionary overtones of the "questions." Additionally, even if Smith manages not to blow the whole country apart, this referenda will scare off investors and drive capital out of the province. It's a lose-lose situation.

Having provincial law override federal means evey province could have a different version of a law that could affect things like e the environment or labour laws. This is also why separating from Canada, especially when you are landlocked, is a really bad business decision.And again 7 provinces, representing 50% of the population have to agree for a constitutional amendment like this. There is no support at all for this, for obvious reasons. This is a giant waste of time and money, which is a trend for all the referendum questions. #alberta2026 #referendum #vote

Firstly there is no chance to get enough support from other provinces (need 7 provinces , representatives 50% of the population to make a change like this). So this is again a waste of time and money. Secondly, if it could be done, the current government in #alberta would clearly use a change like this to create a two-tierd health system. They continue to push private health care and private schools every year. But rules like this keep the current system relatively in line because the province can't lose the billions of dollars it receives every year from the Federal government.#referendum #alberta2026 #vote

There could be arguments for and against keeping our current structure including keeping the senate or senate reform. I'm not against that conversation.The problem here is that Alberta is spending a lot of money running this referendum to ask questions like this, on topics that we cannot influence.Abolishing the #senate requires a unanimous decision from all provinces and the federal legislature. This will never happen and this question will just become another UCP talking point with no legs. If the Alberta Government is going to spend 30, 50 or even $100 million on a referendum, it should either be used to ask questions on topics they can act on, or should be scrapped and the money can be used for things we need. #referendum #alberta2026 #vote

The Commissioner called it "a threat to democracy to interfere with the with the administration of justice."That is the person asking you to give her government control over who sits on the courts that rule on her government's decisions.Judicial independence exists for a reason. Making it harder to vote disenfranchises minority groups. It's been proven many times in the United States recently again. There have been multiple large studies on the matter, most of which show 0 non-citizen votes ever being cast.And copying the MAGA playbook here in Alberta with made up issues like this should scare everyone. The right to vote is protected by the constitution and cannot be overridden by the notwithstanding clause. The government is already chipping away at this now, introducing Bill 29 just this month. Further bills creating even more of a 2 tiered system can put Federal funding in jeopardy.
