ver.1.0.0 in realistically a year or a few at least. it's better that way. I'm surprised it got this far, and I'll make it keep going. ibispaint needs actual competition, not just closed down clones, unfriendly interfaces, and a lack of communities.

I'll share more about it when the drawing part is in use/available again and updated (it's been like 4 months on ui-v2) idk what else to put here meow ^-^

canvas is not implemented in ui-v2 yet. but possibly a new release in november or december, definitely aiming for this year tho (it'll be the 1st anniversary of development starting)

also very scuffed at the moment. and even when ver.0.2.3 releases it will still barely have any new features. yes it's a patch update despite creating a bespoke ui system; that's the goal of ui-v2, ver.0.3.0 is where more tools will happen, ver.0.4.0 will be the atproto beginnings

2000 fps now + solid vsync on android lesson: do not fuck the graphics processing unit. less render passes and pipeline switches alongside combining pipelines result in vastly improved performance

400 fps on a radeon igpu; two (2) on fucking nvidia ??? the best part: 20 nvidia frames per second when i *don't* have my "gaming" laptop plugged in

nvidia is still borked unfortunately. nothing i can do about it except patching sdl, which i wouldn't really do this early into this project.

every time i wake up to some new bullshit UI change with no option to revert i don't click on a button. i click on the position where i know a button is, if you move it or change how it looks and i can't revert it you should be sentenced to 1 week of coding without a physical keyboard

also no voice dictation if you use an agent, only on screen keyboard with an alphabetic layout + a gamepad with stick drift and no d-pad

bluesky image cdn has a one in ten chance of never loading an image or taking forever to do so. (especially on mobile) ik I can set a different one but like, why is it like this

ibispaint back at enshitification again, this time enforcing usage limits on previously unmetered features and possibly blocking older versions by requiring serverside subscription verification

the new 3d feature is also misleading as some materials lack the "yellow dot of doom" (aka subscription indicator), yet any transform, rotation, or scaling is locked. also note that 3d models are downloaded from the server and seem to be included as internal reference instead of project

i should (perchance) create an ibispaint wiki focusing on keeping track of the shenanigans and reverse engineering of mediocre art software (not that gradien is any better currently, it's barely functional/barely exists, especially with ui-v2 (hopefully complete by end of year, not in dev mood rn))

istg if ibispaint ver.14.1.0 does not include the ability to load custom .obj/.fbx files from device instead of cloud materials imma (perchance) create another tool like i did for animation resolution. maybe a whole toolkit for modding ibispaint or adjacent in the same way as revanced.

two most likely outcomes with 3d and audio is that they stored separately like brush stamps, not directly in the .ipv file but rather as a reference. or the jackpot and we get full obj/fbx/mp3 in project file the same way as imported images

(especially since diffusion cannot be ethical or result in lack of quality by reason of some above criteria and lack of applicable and structured learning process)

tldr, notes, or something: image gen is always slop, text gen can be slop too, humans too. the process of creation is important, in the same way that context of creation is too

the issue i see with "slop" is that: · creation was rushed · quality was unconsidered · sacrifices for the sake of profit · emphasizing presentation lacking structure it all applies more to design of result (everything surrounding the code) than design of structure (the code).

(can also be applied to diffusion and transformers inside the scope of machine learning, causing the tension with people because of bad initial experiences in this field and lack of consent)

software can be art but not all software or parts of it are. quality of software is debatable, since writing (the core of some) software requires thinking about how data/behaviors/features are best structured, delegating this to a transformer can result in decent quality but awful structure whereas…

…writing software can result in very good quality and structure, at the cost of speed. (generally, both approaches of software development can reach any quality and structure given enough time or lack thereof)

according to the preview in the next ibispaint update (ver.14.1.0), you'll get a filter higher quality filter of an existing one, but it seems to be cloud processing and limited in usage unlike existing cloud filters (watercolor, bg removal). also possibly explains the removal of autopaint
