On the topic of culchies a few weeks back. Here's my hypothesis on it: All boggers are culchies, but not all culchies are boggers. Thank youse for coming to my Ted Talk™

Good think people only drink drive during bank holidays and a press conference on the side of the road wearing RSA high-vis vests is the best approach at reducing road deaths.

The hierarchy of feelings.

Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age - when the victims are accused of racism to silence the grotesque horrors they face daily.

United can keep thinking a new manager will turn it around, but it won't. Ferguson managed to steer that club despite its flaws, so no manager will come close to him in terms of impact. It's almost comedic to watch though.

My eldest loves watching cooking related stuff, he loves baking and trying new stuff, so much so, he's down there cooking us dinner at 11 years old. We're not forcing him to do this, he genuinely wants to do it.

Leaving aside that the comparison is absurd and offensive, if I was Jim I wouldn't be evoking the organisations that tried so hard to keep Black Americans down in case someone asks the origins of their adjacent dislike of Catholics, and whether that's pure coincidence.

I wish people going on about the two state solution in relation to the upcoming election in Israel would read a fucking history book. The stance has never changed.

He should be asked more about his love for Trump etc. Show his stupid extremist positions for what they are.

I'm between annoyed that gobdaw Bryson has escaped the X bubble into the general media sphere, and partly delighted that people are getting to hear how much of an absurdist balloon he is about stuff. The IT podcast had him on yesterday, and he could have been challenged a bit more

Highlighting her achievement of publishing something tangible and of value to people versus what data centres do. I dunno if he's thought this through

"So Sally Rooney has published six and a half million books - that's quite a lot of books, well done - but that's about 15,000 tonnes of emissions." Ireland's data centre industry boss has lashed out at writer Sally Rooney for her opposition to the sector www.thejournal.ie/sally-rooney...

Far right protesters can walk into libraries to threaten people with a police escort and block roads asking brown skinned people for ID while the Gardai look on. The same Gardai will happily put a dozen leftie students in A+E for a week during an eviction protest. I hope this helps your analysis

Finished the latest seasons of Blue Lights, Slow Horses, and Ted Lasso recently. Can't keep up with all the TV series almost. Watching a good one called 'Last Seen' currently, from Apple. Gripping watch anyways.

Poppy Psychosis Season comes earlier and earlier every year it seems. The Irish History podcast did a good episode on the history of it in Ireland and people were having none of it as far back as 1919

Turned up for my physio appointment all punctual as always, got there but the place was locked up. Turns out I was exactly 7 days early for the appointment 😭

Somehow seeing this guy's name everywhere and not knowing a Scooby-Doo about him. And then reading the synopsis about him

A powerful thread that is spot on too. #IrishPol

My mother and sister both have careers I would describe as requiring professional-grade empathy. I consider them both experts at it. Many times, I’ve seen them educate people on the importance of respecting the bodily autonomy of children, most often via the advice: do not force them to hug.

A comprehensive Isabel Hayes rejection of a far-right Aontú/Jim O'Callaghan attack on a Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) campaign advocating the teaching of consent to small children. O'Callaghan is the Dublin government's Minister for Justice - he should be fired. Small children - boycott Aontú!

Una Mullally@unamullally.bsky.social

This, from the hugely experienced Irish courts reporter, Isabel Hayes, on the Minister for Justice’s performative outrage over an ad about children and consent, is worth reading.

On that ad being pulled. There's a message in it that some people will never get, and I see it with my own kids. Sometimes they're uncomfortable around people they barely know pawing them, same as was done to my wife, and people should learn boundaries FFS. My youngest kid is still like this.

Especially on his oft trotted out line of 'Unionists much give, Nationalists must get'. The guy was about 8 around the GFA and he's raging for some reason that he missed the heyday, that he'll do anything to whip up tensions again.

PHP haterz are gonna love this. Truth is, there's vulnerabilities in everything all the time and so many of the worlds software libraries are maintained by one maintainer Interesting case if you're a nerd like me en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XZ_Util...

Is this why it took years and so much money to develop? Because people kept adding features. Sounds like my idea of a hellish project to be on.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but the guy who said it wasn't his responsibility for road deaths, welcoming the abandonment of any attempts to prevent future deaths might not be acting in our best interests...

Mícheál Lehane@fertha.bsky.social

A plan by the Road Safety Authority to install breathalysers in pubs and hotels nationwide has been stood down. It’s understood the decision follows ministerial intervention today. Tonight the Minister of State with responsibility for road safety, Sean Canney, welcomed the news

This has to end. Our government needs to grow a spine and show the people in Ireland they're willing to break from the USA and boycott Israel. We should be using the EU presidency to persuade other countries to invoke the trade clauses ending the EU trade with Israel. #speirgorm

The violence experienced by our colleague, barriers to reaching medical care and growing restrictions imposed on Palestinian communities are not coincidental. Read our statement: www.doctorswithoutborders.ca/palestine-ms...

Do you disavow the Irish Republican Brotherhood?

Michelle Cohen@docmcohen.medsky.social

Do you disavow the Grimm Brotherhood? Do you disavow the Karamazov Brotherhood? Do you disavow the Hanson Brotherhood? So many brotherhoods to disavow, so little time.

Arranged one of those video GP calls for this morning, for a recurring issue and he couldn't give me the medication. And this was mild stuff, eye drops like. Gave me the 4 options I had before I arranged that one. A bit pointless, had to go with Midoc after all.

I can't believe that people who have been acting with impunity just keep doing this shit

Joe Noonan@joenoonan.bsky.social

The story is the violent attack by Israelis on an EU diplomat and others, leaving a French Mayor wounded on the ground. Not the mealy mouthed comments by Israel’s key ally.
