My latest for @zeteo.com on how MBS and Obama's careless interventionism turned Yemeni rebels into the regional military power now threatening global energy markets, and why it beggars belief that MBS has once again started a war of choice with the Houthis zeteo.com/p/the-truth-...

1st event of its kind, I believe: Senators Van Hollen and Welch intro'd, and 30+ staffers (some who will have a role in appointee confirmations) came to hear testimony from fmr officials and @akbarshahidahmed.bsky.social on the malfeasance of the Biden officials now angling for 2028 gigs.

This week, Win Without War Education Fund, A New Policy, and @cipolicy.bsky.social cohosted a panel for staff from 27 congressional offices on accountability for US officials implicated in the Gaza genocide. Hear what our panelists had to say ⬇️

Former State official Stacy Gilbert: It’s unforgivable that officials who gaslit the American people have been permitted to move on to jobs at elite institutions. That’s why it’s more important than ever to hold them accountable and prevent them from continuing to shape US foreign policy.

Former State Department official Stacy Gilbert: The Biden admin’s policy “seemed to be that we would gaslight the world and tell egregious lies in order to skirt the law” to continue arming Israel — a hypocrisy that compelled Gilbert to resign from a 20-year career in government.

@akbarshahidahmed.bsky.social: After their support helped Israel kill over 67,000 Palestinians to be killed and cost Dems the 2024 election, former officials like Jake Sullivan, Brent McGurk, and Avril Haines have been allowed to take up cushy positions at universities, think tanks, and VC firms.

"I was frankly shocked by how cynical so many of the officials I talked to were ... 'if I question my peers ... will they hire me in the next administration?'" - @akbarshahidahmed.bsky.social on justifications for doing the grunt work behind US support for Israel's genocide in Gaza

@akbarshahidahmed.bsky.social: Biden officials feared that speaking out or trying to hold Israel accountable would damage their career prospects.

US Army Major (Ret) @harrisonmann.bsky.social warned on my show while Pete Hegseth has failed at Iran war, he has succeeded at making US military "more aligned with his white nationalist, white supremacist values and into an institution more loyal to Trump than US Constitution" youtu.be/CCsczRmNauI

youtu.beArmy Major Harrison Mann: Pete Hegseth is turning US military into a Christian nationalist movementYouTube video by The Dean Obeidallah Show

Supporting Israel is as much of a fringe position among Democratic voters as banning abortion (~15%)... ...a full half of House Dems still voting to arm Israel is a fundamentally undemocratic outcome.

~100 Dems voting against military aid for Israel yesterday is a milestone. It doesn't mean all our reps suddenly 'found religion' but it does mean many of them are, for the first time, more afraid of their voters than pro-Israel donors and AIPAC

Trump's Board of Peace is failing on aid, failing on reconstruction, provides no path to Palestinian self-determination, and leaves Palestinians at the whims of Trump and his cronies. Maybe that's acceptable to @hillaryclinton.bsky.social, but it's not to us. Read our new report below.

Re strikes on Iranian reservoirs: We've seen Trump repeatedly threaten to do war crimes - it's a big part of his "strategy" - so unfortunately, it's very plausible we have US pilots deliberately striking civilian infrastructure.

"'Dual-use' doesn't apply to drinking water for a civilian population." Trump's repeated threats against Iranian civilian infrastructure don't leave much room for speculation about why reservoirs were bombed.

If Trump told Netanyahu not to bomb Iran Sunday and Netanyahu did it anyway, Trump didn’t *really* tell him not to bomb Iran. Nonstop “POTUS mad at Bibi” Axios exclusives weren’t any more convincing when Biden tried them. My latest for @zeteo.com : zeteo.com/p/netanyahu-...

I think Trump will take a "win" on Iran when he feels like it. The problem isn't that he can't find an impressive enough deal, it's that he doesn't feel enough pressure to progress from the double-blockade status quo.
