it completely trips me up that so many people in the replies use "automatic opt-in" or "opt-in by default" to mean "opt-out" words used to mean something

Twitch now uses your channel to train generative AI by default. You can opt out of some training here: www.twitch.tv/settings/sec...

shoutouts to saying yes just because you really fw the person asking and you want them to know that you appreciate them but you low key don't want to but maybe it's just because something is wrong with your brain and you still want to be invited to stuff and hate saying no too much

Whenever I ask myself why my feed is full of political outrage-bait and dooming, it's usually because I acidentally opened the Discover tab.

people dooming about discord age verification when server owners can literally just opt-out by not setting any channel to age-restricted (and disabling the content filter if needed)

I'm permanently traumatized by Jira I saw someone on public transport playing solitaire on their phone in the corner of my eye, and at first I thought they were furiously moving tickets back and forth across lanes on a kanban board

the worst thing about winter isn't the cold or the dark but the fact that if I don't lotion constantly my skin turns into dry itchy parchment can't wait for it to be summer again

I brought up the burger vs sandwich topic in a discord chat with both Americans and Europeans and then left them to it they're still arguing fiercely after 40 minutes and one of the Euros is quoting Grok

it's sorta funny watching other americans deal with angry europeans in their mentions for the first time this week. i've been picking fights with europeans online for years

apparently not charging (or using) my cordless drill for years permanently broke the battery pack? is that something that people expect to happen, my boyfriend was like "I'm surprised that you thought it would work" like that's the most normal thing ever

god I just noticed the massive shadows under my eyes, especially noticeable on my right one it's all factorio's fault, I should have never started another playthrough

depending on time of day, my work webcam either overexposes me and I look like a pale vampire queen or it underexposes me and I'm darker than everything else

I just learned that retrofitting a peephole to an apartment door generally does not need to be approved by the landlord in Germany. Guess I know what my next home improvement project is.

sometimes I don't know why I watch the video I watch on YouTube, like what's interesting about some guy just playing gen 3 OU ladder with a rattata on his team, but somehow I'm 45 minutes in

Summer packing: small shorts, small top, I can fit a dozen outfits like this Winter packing: big sweater, undershirt, big pants, bag's half full

international mail is so cheap, wdym someone will take my little sheet of paper 7000km halfway across the world for €1.25

I really need to stop fidgeting with my hair to the point that it's unrecoverably messed up, but I do think the messy ponytail look is kinda cute

I think one good thing about being German is that we have a massive website for people sharing cooking recipes, which enforces a standard no-fluff format for the content and generally has useful community ratings. Finding recipes in English is such a pain in comparison.

So many results you get are weird blog posts that are more fluff than actual recipe, and the closest thing, allrecipes, seems to be optimized way too much for "engagement and clicks" so that it feels like a pain to use.

I feel so weird whenever a project is like To install, just do `curl [something]/install-something.sh | bash`. Like your server could put *anything* in there. You could probably even have someone sitting on the other end of the connection typing commands into my shell. It feels dirty.

It suddenly feels so backwards that you're expected to order something to drink every time you're in a restaurant in Germany. Where's my free complimentary water that just gets brought out for everyone without asking? Why do we accept that we don't just get that here?

I hate fall. It's cold, it's wet, it's basically dark already when I get off work, I can't wear my favourite outfits, literally everything about this sucks. And it's not even going to get any better until 6 months from now.
