Would really like to thank the organizers of the Mountain View Art and Wine festival for being something VTA needs to route their bus service around. Near as I can tell my neighborhood west of downtown had entirely nonexistent route 21 service from late morning to sundown.

It all makes sense if you think of the LLM as a new programmer who doesn't know to quote environment variables that could contain spaces and has cargo-culted a shell script that was written to use HOME for whatever purpose was desired.

OpenAI has confirmed that sometimes GPT 5.6 could make "an honest mistake" and delete your home directory. It's recommended to enable sandboxing protections including auto review to protect against this problem while OpenAI works on mitigations. 😬

I vaguely remember paying about $5 for new vinyl records in the mid 1970s. People sometimes express frustration to me about newly manufactured vinyl records being $25 or whatever today.

"According to MTMA, services are suspended due to the expiration of the shuttle operator’s California Public Utilities Commission license. The City of Mountain View has been informed that the shuttle operator, WeDriveU, operates statewide for private and public agencies."

As of June 18, Mountain View Community Shuttle and MVgo shuttle services are temporarily suspended. The Mountain View Transportation Management Association (MTMA) runs both free shuttle services serving Mountain View. Read the news update at MountainView.gov/Home/Components/News/News/1323/284.

Familiarity breeds contempt, and nowhere is this so pronounced as by the behavior of non-commercial motor vehicle operators driving in their own neighborhoods.

Just deleted the @archive.org "Donate Books" app from my phone. It's nice when it works, but needs a restart some random number of lookups in because it stops recognizing that it has something to scan. Then I get tired of working with it, and then one of the other volunteers discards my candidates.

One good use of augmented reality would be to walk into a Shopper's Drug Mart and have a HUD showing me all the brands owned by shitbags

I found out today that one of the forces pushing Trump the hardest for this Greenland shit is… the owner of Estée Lauder. Sharing this here because they own SO MANY makeup brands and I bet a lot of you might like to join me in not repurchasing anything from this makeup brand family!

Just updated MacBook to 26.1 and this is kinda small with everything else going on right now but widgets have been moved from the Notification Center to the Desktop (where they hide under open windows but not the Desktop) and hey macOS developers we had a way to do this which was called Dashboard

The article is about El Monte Ave in Mountain View CA but the city considers the nearby Escuela Ave interchange to be of a piece with it, and that latter is a good place to get hit by a car while pedestrian www.mv-voice.com/traffic/2025...

mv-voice.comMountain View weighs El Monte 'road diet' after pedestrian fatalitiesLong-awaited improvements are beginning to take shape on El Monte Avenue, a corridor in Mountain View with a record of pedestrian fatalities.

It is kind of amusing that the text about the Escuela/ECR interchange is about cars turning left from Escuela onto south/east bound ECR but adjacent picture shows a car turning right from Escuela onto north/west bound ECR and yup, the car-brained are looking at the oncoming north/west bound traffic

Can't help but think there's some reason why the workers voted against VTA's proposal on Monday and it's probably a story worth telling

To help ease the loss of transit service, VTA is offering riders Uber vouchers of up to $5 for each ride with a maximum of 2 rides per day. Rides must begin and end at a VTA bus or light rail stop, and must be ordered on Uber’s mobile app. Redeem your voucher at www.vta.org/uber-voucher...

Really I kinda wish ATU Local 265 would talk to their friends in the CWA and get a referral for a copy editor and someone with web clue, they've got a press release up that is a webp of a jpeg

Anyway that (pictured) press release is the union saying a few things about why the union members didn't vote to accept the proposed contract. They could be right about the reasons. Unfortunately my contact with union members is kinda cut off by this strike so I can't ask them.

not that it’s not already apparent that his claim to never see Nazis and not know how to find them is a blatant lie, but I have personally drawn Hamish’s attention to several Nazis on Substack and watched him squirm. he knows they’re there.

🎃 Imani Gandy Corn 🎃@angryblacklady.blacksky.app

Here is the co-founder of Substack blaming its users for seeing Nazis on the platform and then trying to deflect from the fact that Substack revenue shares with Nazis by saying he encounters more extremism here on Bluesky (which doesn't revenue share with Nazis). This is I ndefensible.

On my walk to Palo Alto round 1730 on 31 Dec 2024, someone took the exit off San Antonio Road to the frontage road that leads to Alma. Their white Tesla turned its brights on at me. Thinking the pilot in commmand might be having trouble seeing I presented Figure 1 to help them focus.
