I've just realised who Macklemore is: that bloke who sang about the 'ceiling can't hold us' at the speed of a Hereford cattle auctioneer. I once thought about learning to do that 'song' to impress the nieces and nephews at Xmas, but soon gave up.

I love this woman. If only her words could reach all human ears. A must watch till the end, Speaker-Vandana Shiva is an Indian scholar, environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, ecofeminist and antiglobalization author. #WomeninLeadership IG: @maturedgirl

Something has gone badly wrong. For every £100 of new wealth created across the world, £41 went to the richest 1%. The poorest half of humanity received just £1. Read that again. £41 to the richest 1%. £1 to HALF the world’s population. 🧵

This isn’t left versus right. It isn’t Labour versus Conservative versus Reform versus Green versus Lib Dem It’s us. Whatever our politics, surely we can agree: An economy where millions of people can’t afford food, warmth, housing and basic necessities isn’t working.

So talk about it. Challenge it. Ask questions. And if you believe we can do better than this, repost this thread and bring somebody else into the conversation. We don’t want people to become better at surviving poverty. WE DON’T WANT TO BE POOR ANYMORE. #WeDontWantToBePoorAnymore

People can’t afford food. People are cutting back on basic personal hygiene. People are frightened to turn the heating on. Teachers are buying food for hungry pupils. People who work hard have given up believing they’ll ever afford a home. How did we decide this was normal?

We talk endlessly about helping people in poverty. Food banks. Free meals. Hardship funds. Emergency support. All absolutely necessary. But perhaps we’re asking the wrong question. Instead of continually asking: “How do we help people survive poverty?” “Why are so many people poor?

And Britain has its own staggering wealth divide. The richest 1% own 21.3% of UK wealth. The poorest 50% own just 4.6%. Meanwhile, millions of ordinary people are struggling to afford ordinary life.

More kids go hungry, probably

It is extremely annoying the way that Hunt, like Osborne before him, personally undermined the foundations of the British state and now gets to opine as if this mess was absolutely nothing to do with him.

This is brilliant, shocking and sad all in one small film.

👀 WATCH Reform voters waking up to Reform policies, brilliant 🤩 Privatising NHS… Oh Jesus no. Reducing min wage… It’s not worth working as it is. Conclusion: “They’re trying to reform like a Dickensian authority where we are living in smog and no one has any rights unless you’re rich or white.”

Yes because not everyone gets to be a Crypto millionaire

"In the same post he also wrote "do I really wanna do this?" saying the role involved "endless boring meetings" and "the pay is so poor for all u do"." Reform UK not up for it? That's a surprise... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwy2528e248o

I'm not saying this because I particularly think he should stand for leader but it does feel Quite Interesting that Labour actually has this other mayor who's been successfully running a much bigger city for a longer period of time but for some reason no one's waiting for him to save the party

The whole US administration is unhinged. They want a fight with the EU? This is utter craziness. The UK & EU should push back strongly.

They estimate Boris Johnson’s decisions throughout Covid resulted in 22,000+ unnecessary deaths. Throughout his time the media had a love in with him. Starmer appointed Mandleson. For right reasons. But it was wrong. He’s apologised. Media hysterically demand he resign
