I never thought I’d argue against something I was taught to respect from childhood. Yet every time it happens before a professional game, I find myself asking the same uncomfortable question. #NationalAnthem #Sports https://grumpa.ca/2026/10/28/when-sports-sing-politics/

I was thrilled when Marc Bergevin acquired Josh Anderson. By far, my favourite type of player. The offense hasn't turned out as anticipated, but he has adapted his game, particularly under St-Louis. Now 700 #NHL games, well done! #GoHabsGo #Habs

The #NHL should fix overtime: 1- 10 mins of 3-on-3 OT 2- Overtime Overback: Once you enter the offensive zone, you can’t retreat past the red line. If you do, it’s a 4-on-3 penalty. 3- No Offsides: Once you gain the zone, the blue line disappears as long as you keep possession.

Twelve games down, 72 to go. The Canadiens have made a decent start, but injuries, a battle between the pipes and a struggling power play could tell us more than the standings do. #GoHabsGo #Habs

A rookie steals the show, Flo gets his first NHL goal, and Detroit keeps coming back for another look. Coincidence? Maybe. Interesting? Absolutely. #GoHabsGo #Habs

From earlier today… Montreal could use another top-six centre, but there's a difference between wanting a player and being wanted back. A tale of the rumour that just won't die. #Habs #GoHabsGo grumpahockey.ca/2026/10/27/c...

I question forcing someone to like the #Habs. But if the #Habs brass insists, there’s one way to find out. #GoHabsGo

His parents raised him to always tell the truth. His teacher kept asking him to reconsider. His principal kept calling him in. Young Timmy just could not see the problem. #Humor #Family grumpa.ca/2024/07/31/t...

Between the Provincial and Municipal elections, I got confused by all the yard signs. I think I might have voted for a realtor.

The talent fits, the price could hurt, and Montreal isn't on his preferred list. At what point does pursuing a star become chasing someone who doesn't want to be caught? #GoHabsGo #Habs

New banner. Life, Humour, Lessons on Grumpa.ca. #NHL and #Habs hockey on GrumpaHockey.ca. Same honest and direct perspective.

Hey #Habs fans! It’s GAME DAY!!! #GoHabsGo @ #STLBlues Game Time: 8:00 PM The Canadiens won two in a row without their captain Nick Suzuki, both on the road. The Blues play for .500 but are 3-1-1 at home. It will be St. Louis (the city) vs St-Louis (the coach).

Good article JD. I wonder if his health issues had any bearing on the extension signed by Matheson?

Mason McTavish leads the #STLBlues in scoring with 6 goals, 10 points in 11 GP. He has a 52.9 FO%.

Players #Habs fans and media focus too much about: - Mike Matheson - Oliver Kapanen - Jakub Dobeš Players they don’t talk about enough: - Noah Dobson - Chris Kreider - Juraj Slafkovsky #GoHabsGo

#Leafs fans were flying high a few days ago after their team beat the #LetGoOilers, laughing at them and bragging about how good they are. Then they get their butt handed to them by the... lowly #Flames. #Karma #DownToEarth

Missed it this morning? A tiny toothpick of free food should not be capable of exposing our character, our manners and our willingness to make six laps around an aisle. Yet here we are, waiting for the next batch. #Humour #Costco grumpa.ca/2026/10/26/t...

Missed it this morning?  Big minutes, physical play and growing confidence. Kaiden Guhle is checking the right boxes, but the biggest test of his season may have little to do with hockey skills. #Habs #GoHabsGo grumpahockey.ca/2026/10/26/k...

Hey #Habs fans! Complete the following sentence: Chris Kreider will finish the season with ____ goals. #GoHabsGo #PuckYourBrain

Montreal's blue line looks different when Kaiden Guhle is at his best. But there's one question that could determine just how valuable he becomes to the Canadiens. #GoHabsGo #Habs

While it may not be quite as prominent as it is in Alberta, in 33 years living in BC, I can tell you first hand that there are plenty of people out there who would vote for a rock if painted blue. #CdnPoli

Over 100,000 people in Manitoba identify as francophones, most of which are around Winnipeg. St. Boniface, MB, is the the second-largest Francophone community in Canada outside of Quebec.

Life is too short to take everything seriously, and hockey is too frustrating to sugar-coat. One site serves up life, laughs and lessons. The other serves up #Habs hockey with an honest opinion. Different subjects, same flavour! #Blogging #GoHabsGo

Outdoor hockey, questionable calls and a rookie goalie who refuses to blink. The Canadiens are finding ways to win without their captain, and this kid might be the biggest reason why. #GoHabsGo #Habs

Last night's win puts the #Habs in a playoffs' spot! Tied with #FlaPanthers (1 game in hand) -1 pt back of #GoBolts -2 pts back of #Leafs (2 games in hand) -2 pts back of #GoSensGo (1 game in hand) Not bad for a slow start! #GoHabsGo

#MorningGrump In town, a woman with 3 kids was staring at my tattoos and said: "Those are permanent, you know?" Pointing at her children, I couldn’t help but reply: "So are those…"

Every so often, I'm being told that Jacob Fowler is too small to be a successful goalie in the #NHL. At 6'1" and 223 lbs, he seems to be proving doubters wrong... at only 21 years of age. #GoHabsGo #Habs

Yes, it's okay for Kent Hughes and the #Habs to swing for the fence and get an impact 2C. But part of his job is also to recognize when some of his young players are NHL-ready and make room for them. F. Xhekaj, Beck, Engström, Reinbacher and soon, Hage are ready! #GoHabsGo

On October 9th, we were told that Sam Montembeault would be out for 10-14 days and the #Habs stuck to that timeline all the way through. It’s now October 26th (17 days) and still no news, and not on the ice. Is he on Robidas Island? #GoHabsGo

Nobody goes to Costco planning to question their moral standards. Then somebody puts free teriyaki chicken on a tiny tray and suddenly we discover just how negotiable “one per customer” really is. #Costco #Humour https://grumpa.ca/2026/10/26/the-great-costco-sample-shuffle/

According to the #NHL, this is a 7:00 PM game time. 🙄 #GoHabsGo #Habs

From this morning:  Trade whispers, emerging talent, questionable criticism and an outdoor hockey spectacle. Grab your coffee, because the Canadiens conversation isn't slowing down. #Habs #GoHabsGo grumpahockey.ca/2026/10/25/m...

There’s a fighter jet circling around YUL.

Some rumours have nine lives, some players can't catch a break, and some critics could use a timeout. There's plenty brewing around the Canadiens. #GoHabsGo #Habs

By "instant regret", there's a picture of @davidebybc.bsky.social. But rest assured, it will soon be replaced by a picture of BC voters. #BCPoli

Going to pick up my wife at the airport in Montreal in late afternoon. Hoping to be back on time for the #Habs game. I should be back, assuming no delays. #GoHabsGo

Hey #Habs fans! It’s GAME DAY!!! #GoHabsGo @ #GoJetsGo Game Time: 7:00 PM It’s the Heritage Classic outdoor game. Where tens of thousands of fans pay money to gather in an outdoor stadium to watch the game on a big screen because they can’t see the play.
