NYC Groundwork would like to congratulate everyone who ran on our slate, whatever the result, for a job well done. We won 80% of the candidates we put up, more than any other slate in the race, and had three branches where every one of our candidates was elected delegate!

Our delegates are excited to take part in New York City's upcoming convention and fight for a party-like DSA, a vision of community safety beyond policing, a 2028 DSA presidential candidate, a truly diverse and multiracial DSA, and a socialist response to the climate crisis. See you there!

Groundwork is organizing to build a diverse mass party for the entire working class. Rank the Groundwork slate #1 on your NYC-DSA convention delegate ballot by tonight at 11:59 pm and support these two resolutions to build DSA's black and Latinx base!

Groundwork is building long-term political power, growing DSA members to grow the movement! 🪴💖 Join Zohran field lead, Eon field lead, and Transit Working Group field co-chair Mala and vote Groundwork!!

Deadline to vote the GW slate is this Sunday, October 25th, at 11:59 PM! Slate below! bsky.app/profile/grou...

We’re excited to announce the Socialists Must Lead slate for City Convention! Socialists Must Lead (Groundwork & Friends) sees 2028 as the biggest opening socialists have had in generations, and NYC-DSA needs to be ready to run AOC for president and a socialist cadre for Senate.

AOC is on the ballot when you vote for NYC-DSA delegate. Vote the Socialist Must Lead slate #1 by Sunday Oct 25th at 11:59 pm to ensure DSA is laying the groundwork for an AOC presidential campaign!

Turns out the secret handshake to building socialist power is… there isn't one. 🤝 Meet incoming Assemblymember Illapa, alongside Groundworkers Tyler and Luz, showing what happens when socialists in office organize shoulder to shoulder with seasoned and newer members alike.

No VIP passes, just a multiracial, working-class movement building power together. ❤️‍🔥 That's why NYC-DSA members should vote for the Groundwork slate by this Sunday at 11:59! bsky.app/profile/grou...

Groundwork is building NYC-DSA into a party. Over the last year, we have been leading in our electoral campaigns, eco socialist organizing, tax the rich organizing, and beyond.

For years, Groundwork members like Julie have been a part of building NYC-DSA into the most powerful organization on the left. At this convention this fall, we want to go bigger than ever before and support Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for President.

Vote Groundwork to bring democratic socialism to millions of people all across the country in 2028! bsky.app/profile/grou...

This means building upstate chapters and growing a more diverse chapter that can recruit the multiracial working class. We’re fighting to tax the rich, win on climate, build the party, and elect tons more socialists to City Council.

We’ll also push to deliver Zohran’s agenda through a productive relationship that pulls him left, mobilizing to create the Department of Community Safety and disband the Strategic Response Group. In 2025, we elected a socialist mayor. In 2028, we'll take the country. ❤️‍🔥🌹❤️‍🔥🌹❤️‍🔥❤️

Groundwork members proudly authored the Ecosocialist WG Priority Campaign Proposal and No Socialism on a Dead Planet. Many of our delegates are in Eco because they knows urgent Taxing the Rich, challenging corporate Kathy, and organizing the multiracial working class are.

New York City DSA members, Vote for the Groundwork slate starting Monday October 19th to confront the billionaires turning up the heat on the climate crisis!

When Groundwork fought to endorse Zohran in 2024, we knew that top-of-ticket races are key to expanding our electorates. NYC-DSA must prioritize building new Black and Latino electorates for democratic socialist politics, as well as appealing to voters under 45 and Asian voters with our 2028 (1/2)

DSA can lead and deliver what New Yorkers need — a permanent, fully funded Department of Community Safety. We thank the Groundworkers who organized over several months to make this campaign a reality: Lizzy O., Farudh E., and Rasha H.

Join Chicago Groundwork as we host one of the final canvasses before the petition signature submission window opens! Raheem is running for Chicago’s City Council in the 3rd Ward, fighting to take on a corporate backed incumbent Pat Dowell, who is the Finance Committee Chair.

Raheem has been a leader in Chicago’s Democracy Working Group, is a union member, and an eco-socialist fighting for a greener, more affordable Chicago where Black and Brown communities on the south side can thrive. Help us build a socialist slate by getting Raheem on the ballot!

NYC Groundwork Supports the Resolution RUN AOC IN 2028 TO WIN A DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST PRESIDENT! Groundwork knows AOC is the best option for the left in the 2028 Presidential Election and that DSA must lead the charge. Our City Convention Slate is ready and excited to vote YES.

Groundwork’s NPC members are continuing their reflections on their term thus far. Here we have Frances, who discusses her time on the Workers Deserve More Platform Committee, her work handling grievances, and which songs fir which mood right now. Link Below

All across the country, DSA chapters are mobilizing to say: we are ready to run AOC for President, we are ready for a socialism to win in 2028, and we are ready to build this organization for the next 100,000 members, and the next, into the millions, until we have a mass party that cannot be denied.

Chicago, Boston, Sonoma County, and Metro Cincinnati have joined Los Angeles, Atlanta, Rochester, Mid-Hudson Valley, and Wichita, with more to come. Your chapter can join us!

We have an opportunity to not just fight back against Trumpism, but to instead fight for something as well. We can organize to transform this country into something new, where society runs for the betterment of all of us- but we have to believe we can take it.

In the next few days, Groundwork’s NPC members will be publishing reflections on their term thus far on DSA's highest leadership body. First up is Eleanor, who discusses DSA’s response to the Trump admin, how coalitions form on the NPC, and her favorite recent meals.

Congratulations to our member, Jess Newman (@jessnewman.bsky.social), on being endorsed by Metro Detroit DSA to retain her seat on the Ferndale School Board. Jess has been a tireless socialist organizer, building DSA and the democratic socialist movement for more than a decade.

Jess is running to continue her work fighting for students, teachers, parents, and the whole community. Jess embodies what DSA and Groundwork mean when we ask for cadre candidates, from the local level ot the national.

Last Sunday, GW's NPC members voted for the NPC to decide on a potential presidential endorsement by March 2027— following the precedent by which DSA endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2020. Our statement on the vote is below:

1,000 signatures in 1 day! 🎉 Thank you for all your support as we hit the ground running. Sign up and add your name to get involved in organizing for an AOC presidency. ✍️ Let's fight for an Arms Embargo, Medicare For All, a Green New Deal and a Third Reconstruction! 🌹

Select quotes- we find the strategic tension surrounding this potential endorsement to be extraordinarily productive for DSA and wish for members of all stripes to get involved with grappling with the questions posed.

We are proud to share this piece from GWers members including @allthingslabor.bsky.social. GW sees campaigns as vehicles to build the organization- but building does not mean just riding coattails, particularly when it comes to candidates who have refused the responsibility of working alongside us.

In a new piece, Groundwork Co-Chair Joe W. argues that socialists of all tendencies should embrace the sections of DSA's new platform that advocate for constitutional reform and the expansion of direct democracy - despite the performative shock of the establishment media class. LINK BELOW ⬇️
