I am very, very slowly (like, one movie a year) working my way through the 80s horror films everyone else in the world has already seen. This year is Friday the 13th, and honestly of all the films I’ve watched, this one has aged the most poorly.

Nightmare on Elm St, still pretty cool. Hellraiser? Kickass, obviously. Halloween? Jamie Lee Curtis is fun. But in Friday the 13th, I’m honestly on the side of the killer all the way. These camp counselors are all incredibly obnoxious.

ah HA I found the setting to, hopefully, keep it from automatically telling everyone the moment I make a profile change. Now the only challenge remaining is the photo.

And if I change ANY of that, LinkedIn will immediately blast it out to every conservative Texas oilman I’ve ever worked with. Mass coming out to every single business connection I have. Immediate and irrevocable destruction of any chance of ever being employed in my old field again.

Did more practice with my glass dip pen. This would have looked significantly better with normal dip pen nibs, but at least this was fun to draw. #art, #tradititionalart, #penandink, #fantasyart, #dippen

Part of preparation for publishing this book is making sure I have a nice clean professional profile set up everywhere - amazon, goodreads etc. That part’s easy. But I’m staring at my LinkedIn profile right now and lemme tell you, handling that is a REAL conundrum.

Like, the platform IS kinda useful for managing professional contacts. Editors, publishers, etc etc. But. There’s like a 20 year resume of extremely unrelated work. And my deadname. And a hilariously unrecognizable photo of me looking like the girliest girl who ever girled.

Popping the eyeball stacks into the kiln for an extra-long fuse cycle to melt all 4 layers together. Just a few finishing touches next week and they’re finished! And a little stashbuster mosaic for good measure too. Mustn’t let all those pretty shards go to waste.

HALLOWEEN PARTY DAY HAS ARRIVED which, because I am old and introverted, means staying home to do nothing but eat pasta and play video games until it’s time to get all dolled up for the night out

Hydrating ahead of time. Popping a few extra ibuprofin proactively. Greasing up the joints with aspercream in advance. It takes some prepwork but by god I’m gonna have fun tonight.

A rather gorgeous Frank Frazetta concept sketch/painting for the 1979 Battlestar Galactica two-parter “War Of The Gods” in which the evil Count Iblis reveals himself.

I interrupt my usual frantic Liv posting to bring you a vision of the future (if we stop doing the racism)…Excelsior! 🚀👩🏻‍🚀🪐🌙 Artist: Bruce Pennington

Okay so my actual SH2 hot takes are that there should be no combat, and there should be a clearer association between in-game actions/choices and the endings. Maybe I’m just too rpg-brained but the way this game determines how the story ends is silly.

like, since this is a game that otherwise has a very clear narrative and (as far as I can tell?) no possible variation in the events that happen in-game, making the final scene depend on how many monsters you kill or health potions you drink feels weak

OK. I’ve finished reviewing the novella edits. Taken my notes. Scheduled the working session with my editor. Completed all the halloween costumes, submitted all my zine check-ins. I have officially met all my October deadlines. HOORAY

That joke about how if you love your job you’ll never have a day off in your life is basically true, but in my case not a complaint. Yeah, I worked nonstop, but I also got to watch a friend go absolutely insane about my draft. That’s a special kind of satisfaction right there.

Item 4 deadline officially met. Just the big one left with #5. Phew. I can do this.

Sat down to do the math and I have FIVE deadlines in the next month: 1. Halloween sewing comm 2. Hallowing sewing (for me) 3. Smutty zine 4. Fanfic event 5. Final edits on the novella folks I am gonna be LOCKED IN for the next few weeks
