🤔 Can a film still surprise us...?

This is so relatable! Beautiful description of how literary translators read in preparation for their work, going through a cognitive and intellectual process no machine will ever be even close to replicate.

No reading experience compares to the intense reading of a book I’m about to translate: I’m examining what the words and sentences and rhythms do to me, anticipating how I might deal with them but making no decisions yet. I’m feeling for patterns, seeking threads. It’s beautiful.

Offprint just got faster ⚡ We've been cooking, working on some query and page speed optimizations for you all. Publication pages are lighter and load in about half a second, and the editor and dashboard feel snappier too. If anything looks off, let us know 🫶🏽

Arrivederci.

‘The teenage girls who created Beatlemania were derided as psychologically disturbed by older generations, but there was as yet no vocabulary up to the task of describing this group or capturing the magnitude of the earthquake. Screaming was the most appropriate response.’ Ace quote from this book.

This is like Chaplin’s ‘The Kid’. First, they break windows, then get paid to repair them.

How cool is this? My blog appears on the list of ‘21 Most Valuable Publishers’ on Offprint and, apparently, I am the most frequent publisher by some distance (!!!) Nice 😇 Start a blog. Use @offprint.app

A little thread: Science is defiantly anti-fascist because it pursues truth, is necessarily collaborative, and relies on open communication. And because its falsifiability is incompatible with the cultism, faith-based belief systems, disinformation, and propaganda of Christian nationalism.

Everyone with any connection to the book world, please take a brief moment to read this thread.

For all the non-Spanish speaking authors out there - please be aware that my name, along with that of several other Spanish literary translators, is being used by one or more persons, presumably with nefarious intent.

Y vienen a redes a darnos lecciones a quienes llevamos años denunciando robos y desastres patrimoniales.
