Germany wasn't allowed to exist after WWII! The nation of Germany was divided up amongst the US and Russia where it was operated as a dependent territory for like 45 years! I feel like I am taking crazy pills!

Japan actually came out of the war in a better state nation-wise than Germany did despite the racism, their occupied territory status ended after 7 years and they've been a wholly independent country since.

Partially because I was still a minor when I lived in Tennessee and New Hampshire, and I was going to be dead in the ground before paying to get a California driver's license if they weren't going to give me in state tuition after ~6 years of living in the state.
