I recently learned that Dr. James Dobson, founder of "Focus on the family", was mentored by eugenicist Paul Popenoe, and that reminds me of how all fascists want to "drive weakness out of children" by beating them.

To fit with MAGA culture, we should reframe antivaxxers as Ephialtes, the handicapped man in the movie "300", who can't raise his shield high enough to be part of the spartan phalanx, and ends up betraying them.

Oh, and of course the antivaxx movement is funded by Big Pharma to ensure vaccination ratio is never high enough to eradicate an other virus. That way they can keep selling expensive treatments.

After 3 heat waves and a fire in a forest near Paris, there seem to be some beginning of a new awareness in France about Climate Change. I wonder if the same thing is happening in other European countries.

Given that every US news outlet probably has Mitch McConell's obituary publication ready right now, I'd have liked to see the surprised look on their face when the news of Lindsey Graham's surprise death arrived instead.

It seems there are malware captchas running around. This one, on macOS, gets you to launch the Terminal app and copy-paste in it a malicious command (most likely a curl | sh).

Excuse me, what's going on with captcha?

Mark this moment. This is where the endgame begins—though it might take two years to play out. A President of the United States is openly linking the *Pentagon* and rigging elections for his party. He is framing an authoritarian takeover as something the *U.S. military* wants.

An $18bn data center project in sulphuric springs Texas that broke ground in June 2025 is being sued by the construction firm that has been left unpaid. Project is halted due to the developers not getting funding. Our first horseman has arrived msbglobalservices.com/matrix-data-...

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

There are three Horsemen of the AIpocalypse: First, a data center debt deal collapses - it fails to come together and the project is canceled. Second, a data center in construction falls apart, running out of money before it’s complete. Third, a data center fully built runs out of money and dies.

The Twitter equivalent of the Instagram wellness influencers making views with posts filled with fake information are tech bros with a similar business model, threads of pseudo-intellectual drivel. Brivael is a prime example of that trend.

Question : suppose that, in the future, another, saner US administration tries to renegotiate a treaty with Iran about either nukes or the Hormuz strait or both. What kind of credibility would they really have ?

Summary : in space, cosmic rays interact in fun ways with chips, and the denser they are the higher the effect is. Next : ping times and the limit of the speed of light, and then failure rates and the law of large numbers.

So what's going to happen first : - Trump dying of his fronto-temporal dementia - AI bubble popping - US economy collapsing due to dumping of US bonds and loss of trust - Civil war in the US because of ICE ?

A summary of the rumors/trends I see in my social media bubble : - Trump has a few (3-5) months left before his dementia either kills him or forces invocation of the 25th - a huge economical crisis is coming due to loss of confidence in US economy, EU funds are dumping US bonds.

This shower tap is a good example of appearance over practicality. Looks good, but very poor user experience. It's not intuitive, and when you understand how it works it's unusable if your hands are soapy or even simply wet. Really stupid design.

Given the recent posts on Threads, it seems the people who were railing against the Black Livrs Matter movement were not so racists after all. They are perfectly happy to justify the murder of a white person with the same stupid "comply or die" argument that they used for blacks.

Reasons why datacenters in space don't make sense at all : - astronomical (literally) costs - very bad ping times - cosmic rays randomly flipping bits in chips, pb gets worse with chip density - cooling : space is empty, vaccum is a perfect insulator

- impossible maintenance (law of great numbers imply that in a datacenter with 10000 machines, even with the topmost reliability, you'll get about one hardware failure a day) That people will take this idea seriously is mind-boggling.

In particular it describes how this organization perverted the Christian doctrine to affirm that if you're rich or poor, it is by the will of god, either as a reward or a punishment, and going against that (taxing the rich or helping the poor) would go against said will.

I've been rewatching Aaron Sorkin's "West Wing" and "The Newsroom", and boy does it feel strange. Both in their prescience of things to come, and how tame things were in the US compared to now 😔.

Finally read the paper and it's worth the buzz. mRNA vaccines saved 20 million lives in a global pandemic and the technology is opening up new avenues for the treatment of deadly cancers. This is really one of the most impactful scientific developments of our time. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Tron Ares is getting panned (unsurprisingly), but people seem to think Tron Legacy was a good movie, and that's a bit surprising. Special effects and music were great, but he story was pretty bad and missed the whole vibe of the original . #TronAres #tron #tronlegacy

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it). But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that
