Normally we verify email addresses by sending users an email, making them open their inbox, find the email, and click a link to return. Friction at every step. What if it could be this easy?

The first part of Declarative Partial Updates (`<template for>` out-of-order HTML) is now available, unflagged, in Chrome 150!! developer.chrome.com/release-note... The second part (the new JS setting APIs, include the streaming ones) we're still working on the spec side, but maybe for Chrome 152?

I say it every year - if you're even the least bit interested or involved in web performance, this is THE place to be every year. It's the one trip I prioritize my travel budget for. The talks are awesome, but the hallway track is unbeatable. The concentration of experts in one place is insane.

performance.now() 2026 is coming. Ticket sales will open in May with cheap and ultra-cheap early bird tickets. These will be announced in our newsletter first. So subscribe via perfnow.nl/subscribe perfnow.nl

Chrome 144 introduces a new `<geolocation>`HTML Element to implement more impactful user location permission request flows. The new element serves multiple purposes, from location sensor access request as well as providing access to location data without the need to call the Geolocation JS API.

Signal API is now available on Chrome for Android. A user deletes their credential on the website, but the passkey remains in their passkey provider. The next time they try to sign in, the passkey provider offers a passkey that no longer works. A sign-in attempt will fail and this isn't ideal.

Great to see Banking Apps adopting Passkeys for a passwordless and more secure future! PS: Passkeys can be shared across web and app, making login seamless across channels (web to app or viceversa) by using the Digital Asset Link JSON!

If you thought we were done with View Transitions, guess again! A feature Chrome is working on, is “Scoped View Transitions”, which allow you to scope a VT to a subtree of the DOM. This unlocks things like concurrent transitions and prevents layering issues. developer.chrome.com/blog/scoped-...

BFCache can hugely influence your page performance for URLs high on Back Forward Navigation types. If you use CrUX or RUM and you see a lot of traffic in % attributed on Back Forward and few on BFCache maybe you are leaving money on the table! CruXVis can help you measuring this opportunity!

Alternatively, the CrUX History APIs are free and you can build your own dashboards as you see fit. There are also LOTS of great CrUX tools out there — many with a free offering to view history such as Treo, Calibre...etc. So that's another option.

Great to hear about new business stories being published about how leading firms such as #RayBan from Luxottica takes advantage of #SpeculationRules #Prerender on Chrome to double their conversion rate while improving LCP and other CWV metrics! web.dev/case-studies...

Bonus: RayBan also unlocked BFCache and measure the impact of Prerender by using CrUX Navigation Types. Take a look at the data by using cruxvis.withgoogle.com, if you see a high % of Back Forward Navigations and few that are bfcache perhaps you should focus some effort to unlock that potential!

cruxvis.withgoogle.comCrUX VisCrUX Vis is an experiment by the Chrome team to help you explore the Chrome User Experiment Report data with visualizations and helpful links to articles, for a particular web page or origin.

RayBan managed to achieve 50% of CrUX counted Navigation Types accounted to Prerender Type on Desktop, that means that a lot of Ecommerce websites can benefit a lot from these innovations. Especially if implemented in the PLP!
