It was a delight to interview Eric Evans and Martin Fowler at DDD Europe. It re-established the importance of knowing your own thoughts, and understanding the systems in which they happen, through writing for me, a skill I had been neglecting a bit in the past few years.

Big tech is subtly changing the language of their applications to tap into different mental models. I am no longer searching my emails, but I am "asking Gmail" to help me find something. As if it can respond, as if I am having a conversation with it. I am not, I am searching my emails.

Is it me, or is the quality of software going down? In the past few months I have started to notice that software that use to work, is now having issues. No major issues, but small hiccups that make it really annoying to work with. e.g. notifications that reappear, read to unread, stuff like that.

Everyone is trying to figure out how to work with AI, but we also need to understand the risks. The risk isn't that AI produces "bad models", it's that we accept plausible-looking ones without having the correct mental models to validate them. [1/2]

We can do that by modelling collaboratively. Collaborative modelling is becoming more important as we figure out how to use AI. Join me and @kenny.weave-it.org in our workshop, where we will help you improve the quality of your collaborative modelling. www.avanscoperta.it/en/training/... [2/2]

Chelsea Troy is running a workshop for engineers who want to understand AI coding assistants. We’ll dig into how these tools actually work, how to evaluate their output, and how to integrate them safely into complex projects. If you’re skeptical but curious, this one’s for you: buff.ly/J6i1nzP

This year is the 10th edition of @dddeu.bsky.social, and I wanted to share my personal journey during the next couple of weeks. This conference and the people organising it (spoiler alert, my colleagues) have been an important in my professional career for the past 10 years. [1/n]

I am going to be honest with you, I don’t remember much about it. I have a vague impression of the building and hotel in my head, when I think of it I always see black curtains. [3/n]

So 10 seems like the right number to take a trip down memory lane. The first edition was in Brussels, Belgium. I was part of the DDD Belgium community back then, and we were all very excited there was going to be a DDD conference for the very first time. [2/n]

When I started working, I noticed that companies were not great at having meetings and making decisions. So I started digging into decision-making theory. In this episode, I sat down with @roundcrisis.com to unpack why decision-making processes often fail the people they are meant to help. [1/2]

In this episode of Satisfying Software, I had the pleasure to talk to @hanneslowette.net on everything “learning and development”. Hannes has a lot of experience in creating a knowledge sharing culture within a company as Head of L&D at Axxes. [1/2]

In the second episode of this season of Satisfying Software, I talk with @kenny.weave-it.org on domains, subdomains, bounded contexts. What are they, what is the difference between them en when do we need which one? (We also talk about naming things) [1/2]

Satisfying software is back with a second season! What do your users need? In the first episode of this season, I am talking to @suksr.bsky.social on software architecture, Wardley Mapping, understanding user needs and how they help to deliver real business value.

We don't run public workshops often—most of our training is in-house with companies. If you've been wanting to start with collaborative modelling but unsure how, this is your chance to learn by doing it. Details: buff.ly/UHbDWhk

«It’s not just about design, it’s about people, systems, and the way we work together.» This is what Claudia Cuadros recently wrote about the Collaborative Software Design book, written by Evelyn van Kelle, Kenny (Baas) Schwegler, Gien Verschatse. 📖 Have you already read it?

Together with my co-authors @evelynvankelle.bsky.social and @gienverschatse.com, we get questions about our book, which we turn into small advice columns written by our book's alter ego, Dear CoMo.

Have you had enough of all the endless chit-chat about AI? Yeah. I hear you. So I ain’t sayin’ nuffink other than, I’m running a two-day workshop in Amsterdam on November 17th and 18th, getting the most out of LLM-augmented coding tools and having FUN with it. Let’s not talk about it. Let’s DO It.
