It's finally here! I wrote about the evolution of software engineering from FORTRAN to LLMs to better understand the AI coding milestones underway. It included an in-depth look at major AI coding milestones. I'd love to hear your thoughts! djpardis.com/blog/2026/02...

Great question from @hannes.muehleisen.org about aligning the semantics across these diverse libraries, and thankfully there is some concerted effort from the community to align types going forward but really takes a lot of collaboration and cross dialogue.

"Behind every large enterprise data workflow is an SFTP server with CSVs sitting on it (if you are lucky, its object storage and a compressed format, but its the same thing)."

When we started @coginiti.co one of the founding assumptions is that we needed to be able to run anywhere whether that was on premise, cloud, air gapped, and scale from single to thousands of users. People thought we were crazy not building pure SaaS, but our choice enabled fast traction.

Thinking more about what features next-gen query engines will have. I wrote about being able to run anywhere (on-device, edge, cloud, BYOC, and so on). I'm thinking they'll also support both batch and stream processing. (e.g. feldera.com / github.com/linkedin/Hoptimator)

2 years ago I inherited a team that was having each vendor (over 100!) run their own SFTP and we'd upload data dumps nightly. We shifted to using S3 with AWS transfer family gateway and migrated everyone over. The whole setup is insanely simple and scalability is awesome!

You are up to date.
