Three things from my Tuesday notebook: ⌛ An ounce of optimism for a Cairo Santos bounce-back 🐻 Love hearing Ben Johnson speak on Luther Burden III 🎹 Some thoughts on Jay-Z's Super Bowl halftime pick @bn-bears.bsky.social

bleachernation.comWhy Bears Should Trust Cairo, Jay-Z's Super Bowl Pick, Luther Love, MoreTuesday's Bears notebook dishes on why there is hope for Cairo Santos, what makes Luther Burden III go, and Jay-Z's Super Bowl halftime show selection.

I asked A.I. to check my math on the numbers here, and it gave me some BS answer about how there wasn't enough data. Another reminder that the only A.I. we should be acknowledging is Allen Iverson. And maybe Andre Iguodala, if you're a Warriors fan.

i’m not mentally or physically prepared for what i need to do today and i’m already an hour behind schedule but i gotta do it cuz no one is gonna do it for me so here goes nothing

An observation I'm gonna try and squeeze into this Kyler Gordon post I'm working on: Gordon is really good at bluffing the blitz and dropping into coverage. It worked a few times last night. And one of these days, he's gonna goad someone into throwing him a pick-six. I just hope he catches it.

post 21 - here’s a list of things i wanna write tomorrow/this weekend at @bn-bears.bsky.social: - rome’s redemption - inside the in-game adjustment cairo made before his “game-winning” kick - caleb williams vs draft classmates - monangai update - caleb is jordanesque - injury watch (cole, Malik)

this is post 19 of this thread. i like that this app numbers the posts on the thread because I don’t have to do a 1/? for each skeet. it saves me characters. every character matters.

i wanna trim my fall playlist to 100 songs. think i’m at 121 right now. by the time i figure it out i’ll be preparing for the november version of the playlist. november and october have different sounds. not stark, but subtle.

late night caleb williams fun facts

Lester A. Wiltfong Jr.@wiltfongjr.bsky.social

In six of Caleb Williams' seven 300-yard passing games, he's thrown no interceptions. His only 300-yard day with an interception came in the third game of his career (9/22/24), when he threw for 363 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. #Bears

a trade target that i admit is crazy but “hear me out” — colts LG quenton nelson lowkey wonder if he could play LT. maybe that’s an offseason discussion. probably not for the bears. but maybe for nelson & his camp if they wanna max out his next contract / earnings.

don’t overthink this, amazon. ian eagle or kevin harlan as your play by play voice. greg olsen or troy aikman as your color analyst. eff it. don’t overthink this, espn. make buck and aikman kiss n make up. don’t break up a good thing over money. especially when pat mcafee is making QB1 money.

my goat is washed, pt 2: if this was baseball, i’d be thinking about a fake-IL stint for jaylon johnson. he hasn’t looked right all year. heck, he hasn’t looked right since 2024. I hate thinking about how his best years were wasted playing for nagy and flus. that’s so unfair. he deserved better.

there’s a timeline that exists where cairo misses that kick and that’s the last straw. and because teams seem to want big legs, there’s a timeline where that attempt is his last meaningful one as a pro. i’m glad we’re not living in that timeline. heck. that miss from 53 was high off the upright.

my goat is washed, pt. 1: i was practically BEGGING for one last vintage al michaels game. we didn’t get it. was the wild card win vs the packers al’s last great game? i’m so sad that i’m thinking about this.

QB1’s receipt keeping is jordanesque. there’s no other way to describe it. it’s why i said on the podcast (like, share, subscribe, tell a friend to tell a friend) that i wanted people to keep publicly doubting caleb. he clearly uses it to fuel him. let the good times roll.

here’s a thing i love about ben johnson: he turns the page quickly. that end of half TD could have been a turning point in that game. instead, ben puts his junk on the table with a TD drive that proves that play was not gonna carry over and linger into the second half. so darn refreshing.

things in my notes that i didn’t get to this week: “I like Luther Burden III to have a big game against a team that passed on him in the 2025 NFL Draft.” burden went for 130 yards and a tuddy. i don’t even remember treveyon henderson doing anything on TNF. he wasn’t inactive. was he on the field?

here’s a thing i love about caleb williams: he doesn’t quit on guys. 84 drops a ball, he goes right back to him. 15 drops a ball, he goes right back to him. that’s leadership. that’s trust. can’t say i’ve ever seen a young QB show that much faith in dudes who literally dropped the ball like that.
