fundtop: the top of open source. A weekly leaderboard where fans chip in $5 for the projects they use. The biggest total each week takes #1, and 90% goes to the maintainers, after payment fees. Preview, not live yet: fundtophq.github.io

Which rivalry should open the first week on fundtop? ORMs, terminal emulators, zsh prompts, static site generators…

Question for open-source maintainers: would you rather your project be on a funding leaderboard by default (opt out anytime), or only once you opt in?

Where the money goes on fundtop: payment fees come off first, then 90% goes to the maintainers and 10% keeps the site running. Every payout will be public. Does that split feel fair to you?

60% of open-source maintainers call themselves unpaid hobbyists, according to Tidelift's maintainer survey. GitHub Sponsors has paid out about $100M since 2019, spread across 70,000+ maintainers. Why do you think so few developers sponsor the projects they use?

You are up to date.
