Instead of banning trans people in sports, let's just ban sports. If you're not using your free time practicing archery, you're not doing your civic duty.

they should get rid of the designated hitter and just let the pitcher try to throw a base hit when it’s his turn at the plate. that’s the way it always should have been

AOC: "As AI begins to encroach in our society, their goal is to take your cognition away from you. AI's goal is to take your thoughts away from you, your ability to think away from you, so that you become dependent on a machine ... reading books is active resistance"

Okay, everything else aside, Schwinghammer is the perfect name for a construction guy, and it's really disappointing that he named his company Hallmark Homes. Also, the unceasing horrors, etc.

Steve Bannon issues warning to voters if they vote for Democrats in the midterms: “I think you’ll see Bobby Kennedy impeached, I’ll think you see Pete Hegseth impeached. I think you’ll see subpoenas flying every day. They will look to destroy Trump, and we’ll be bogged down for two years.”

Even if the Bible was inerrant (it’s not), no one’s interpretation of Scripture is inerrant so it’s really just a false appeal to certainty. Theology gets way more interesting when we set it free from having all the right answers and let it be a dialogue.

I used to know 3 things about Cornell: bird app, note-taking, and Andy from The Office. Now I know 10 things, and the other 7 are real bad.

One of the worst things about Trump is that he makes us forget how awful the W administration was. It was really bad! In a lot of the same ways! The main reason to think Trump is worse is because it's happening now, not 18(!) years ago.

lol at all the people who've been going "Why isn't Dubya speaking out about Trump??" folks, he's committed to the same fucking project.

One time at a Thai restaurant, I saw a guy try to sell the restaurant owner a "lucky plant" that would bring him more money. He refused. Afterwards, he asked us, "if the plant was so lucky, why did he want to sell it?" This is about AI.

If AI is so good, why do the companies need bailouts? Why don't they just ask their miraculous god-machine how it can be profitable. If that doesn't work, how useful can it actually be?

This was the only net positive I envisioned from this whole Iran thing. Hopefully, that part sticks. I know we're too far gone with a lot of the tipping points, but the slower it happens, the better.

I love interlibrary loan. Oh, there's a book somewhere in the world that I want to read, but my library doesn't have it? Not to worry!😎💻📚

I was a sophomore in high school during 9/11. I was outside of school with my friends before band practice, and I joked that every time I snapped my fingers, somebody died, then snapped my fingers as fast as I could. (I figured since there are billions of people, someone was always dying).

I think about this sometimes. If the goal was to weaken US hegemony and standing in the world, it certainly set us on the right path.

Star Trek is something I love across all of its iterations. Its hope is something that's needed as much today as it was 60 years ago. Here's hoping we can live up to its ideals. 🖖

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how. Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:
