Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

If only Lula had appealed to the conservative right wing of voters who were never going to vote for him, then he would’ve lost bravely. Didn’t he learn anything from neoliberal politicians around the world?

Everyone thought Lula was cooked, hopeless. Then he bought a phone and started posting and now he's gonna get a 4th term. The lesson is to never stop posting.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!

Sometimes I forget that outside of the US, different historical events have different names. The other day, I was recommending a movie to someone who didn't know or had forgotten that we called the American subprime mortgage crisis the Global Financial Crisis or GFC outside of the US.

Fire your employees to temporarily boost your value to shareholders. This is how the West runs companies from now on. No one makes anything, you just temporarily boost shareholder value as you get fired.

I saw NAZA yesterday and the notion that “this film can’t be trusted because it’s connected to Soros” is a pathetic attempt at trying to detract from the impact the film will have

The bubble that software developers live in re: AI is such a real thing. I was talking to a really good mate of mine the other night and he was telling me about how he was USING CHATGPT TO TALK TO ABOUT HIS RELATIONSHIP TROUBLES… He has no photos of himself on social media due to privacy concerns…

I was yelling at him to stop using it because of XYZ and he swears up and down it’s great for it (it’s not) and I was telling him how sycophantic if it is and how studies have proven it literally damages your critical faculties and he just couldn’t acknowledge it. Wild stuff.

I’ve been saying for more than a decade - leaders like Bernie Sanders are popular across parties because they articulates the publics anger at the status quo in a way neoliberals cannot, because they’re not angry at the status quo.

Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task. I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side. I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register

Obama etc have said a lot about the cruelty and the indignity of the current GOP, but they have also been the face of bailouts and insider trading amongst politicians, and golden handshakes to big pharma etc etc. You can’t manifest a grassroots movement by saying “rude” while stuffing your pockets

I think society is in for a really grim 2027. Every industry seems to have pulled back from investing in everything unless it involves AI, which is a bubble that is clearly beginning to burst as the public turns ever-increasingly against it. It seems absolutely insane tbh.

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job. Think about that in context of

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

This 33-year-old nurse told the FBI she knew she was “going to set him free” after border patrol agents brought in a man whose face was bloodied and seriously injured. She treated him and helped him escape, and she faces charges now. He got away, and they never relocated him.

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky
