One of those wealthy donors organized a voter registration drive *under the pretense of a fake lottery* on behalf of the candidate who *tried to steal a presidential election* and instead of seeing articles about that, I'm seeing ones about how Kamala Harris should have been on more Gen Z podcasts.

the trump campaign was literally bought and paid for by the wealthiest people on the planet — openly! — and dim-witted pundits are going on about how voters are tired of "elitist democrats"

NYT leaned (very) heavily into op-ed culture ten years ago which worked to demolish their reputation for unbiased journalism. Four years of anti-Trump essays sold lots of subscriptions, but the result is that half of the country now thinks "journalism" is using big words to dunk on the opposition.

I remember when I first learned what png was. I was so snobby about it, I would literally scoff at jpegs. Even today, many years later, I'll pick it even when there's zero upside to doing so.

What’s your favorite file type?

"Ah yes, laughter. I do enjoy laughter. All of us do, we each enjoy laughter. Laughter is when you bare your teeth and assume an aggressive pose in response to a joke, or to pose for a portrait. Laughter is our favorite part of being lizar-- ahem, human."

I want to make a bsky account called "bangers" where I post bangers in leu of a bookmark button. (I really just want bookmarks)

Hello police? Yes I’m being threatened. No it’s online. No it’s not Twitter but it’s a lot like Twitter. Well it’s new. No I don’t know who they are. Yes it was a reply to one of my posts. No it’s not a tweet. Well they’re calling them skeets. Skeets. Yes but the CEO doesn’t like that. Hello?

Using an invite-only Bluesky thread as a source for an article is an interesting technique.

"It all went south." Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey — once a supporter of Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of the site — is now offering sharp criticism of the new owner and his handling of the deal https://trib.al/1WU6qDD

So far I've submitted two bug reports using the "feedback" google doc, but I'm curious if there's a better way to do this. One of them is an auth bug, and while not super urgent, I didn't want it to risk it ending up in a voidy pile. (also how do we tag accounts on here?)

Retweeted because we don't have bookmarks.

idk what you guys did but one of your hellthreads broke the app, and unlocked a new error message. congrats! 🎉

Me, desperately trying to parse out the definition of problematic accounts so I don't be one

Why@why.bsky.world

quick emergency brake, sorry. several problematic accounts came out of your invite tree, this is our primary mechanism for stemming the tide. will refill for you in a bit

One of my favorite things about human beings is that we will invent clout out of thin air and everyone will nod in earnest agreement.

My brain has been so Twittered that I saw this and reflectively started to block the ad. Turns out this is not an ad, there are no ads, and I cannot block anything.

Nobody expects the Spinach Inquisition!

So far, Bsky feels like watching one of those amoeba evolution games play out in realtime.

a notorious transphobic blogger/internet personality joined, a bunch of trans people told him to fuck off, one of those trans people who said some things about bashing him with hammers was banned. just kind of a minority group's defense mechanisms clashing with civility culture

You are up to date.
