This is Randy’s wife, Betsy. I know he loved his bluesky people fiercely and truly valued being part of the community. It hurts me to have to share that he died last week. Here’s his obituary www.endersandshirley.com/obituary/ran.... Thank you all for your kindness and for making Randy feel seen.

In 2026 alone, the economy has added 60,000 private sector jobs, and the unemployment rate remains low by historic standards at 4.4 percent. So 3.3 million lost SNAP benefits, and they added 60,000 jobs. How does that math work?

Victory+, are you drunk? You just mentioned Mackenna Morris, who left the Spirit what, 1-2 seasons ago? I’d love to see her a k on the Spirit roster, but that seems unlikely. #riseupdc

oh my GAWD, will someone PLEASE tell the announcer that Aubrey Kingsbury is NOT playing for the Spirit tonight?! Once is acceptable but he's been calling Sandy MacIver Kingsbury for most of the second half! Granted, Sandy has been doing a terrific Aubrey impression lately! #thatsthespirit #riseupdc

🥗 Also the official unemployment rate is calculated incorrectly. Gene Ludwig's LISEP calculates the unemployment correctly. The actual unemployment rate? 23.6%

New USDA data released today: H.R. 1 enacted the deepest SNAP cuts in history last July. By January, more than 3 million fewer people were receiving food assistance. Nationwide, SNAP caseloads fell by more than 8% in just 6 months — despite no improvement in economic conditions.

Oh and Chris Armas, whatcha doin’? Methinks you’re the problem, not the solution. How do you lead a team with THAT midfield, and get outplayed that thoroughly?! The Spirit midfield was outstanding, sure. #wasvkc

What. A. GAME! Spsrkling performance all around from #thatsthespirit, with special mentions for Leicy Santos and Sandy McIver — IMG those saves! Unreal!

The number of people receiving SNAP has plummeted as states have begun implementing H.R. 1's devastating cuts. Outside of temporary spikes from natural disasters, this is the steepest 6-month drop in almost 30 years — going back to the deep SNAP cuts enacted in 1996.

You can't play by the rules of a system that has been destroyed and have any hope of defeating the people that detroyed it.

🥗 Silly me, work requirements work exactly as intended—cutting people off benefits so those $$ can be directed to the truly needy— the millionaires & billionaires—in the form of tax cuts. #snap #medicaid #housing

🥗 Most Missouri Medicaid recipients already are working Yeah, ditto for SNAP. You know what’s not working (& never will)? Work requirement policies. A flawed “solution” in search of a problem. www.stltoday.com/news/communi...

Now and then I get an email about Who's Who. Is this a cult or something, preying on the egos of up-and-coming professionals who aren't sure if their work/career matters?

🥗 “Republicans decried this abuse. Their ire was reserved for a single mom who used SNAP benefits to buy a birthday cake for her 8-year-old.” The morality of this country is upside down.

🥗 “A RAND study finds that if we’d kept the 1975 income distribution, the bottom 90% of workers would have earned an additional $3.9 trillion in 2023 alone — a $32,000 raise per full-time worker for a single year.” Support salaam4va! open.substack.com/pub/salaambh...

Ironic or just sad that the weakest feature of Gmail and other Google apps is... search? Seriously, I never find anything I'm looking for in Gmail. Though, tbh, I have an insanely full inbox!

🥗 I just went down a LinkedIn rabbit hole trying to find a post I was going to respond to on my phone (but lost it there too). Anyway that was the boomiest LinkedIn doomscroll I've ever experienced. The world is BLEAK out there, man. Where are you finding the light, cause I ain't seeing it.

🥗 That 30% drop in SNAP participation in Arizona? It's now a 43% drop (1/25-1/26) I'm going to look at the % change in households and benefits later today. www.datawrapper.de/_/9xOIo/
