I love Lizzie's book for many reasons, but particularly for the incredibly deft way she talks about the gender of someone who transitioned multiple times across the span of their life, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A real masterclass!

Dive into Alexis Shotwell’s Liberation Is Other People, a compelling call to transform isolation into solidarity and turn shared action into lasting change #ASA2026

Totally embarrassed my own ass this morning. Furnace tune-up guy noticed my PC in my living room, remarked at "the beast" and asked me the specs. I froze. All I could picture in my head was Ryzen and a string of random numbers. He was cool about it though. He's playing Witcher 3 enhanced.

Made me really happy that Gianna LaMorte, our intrepid marketing master at @utexaspress.bsky.social, agreed to do this piece for @texashighways.bsky.social. There's love here for stores across TX, built out from her insane quest last year to visit 75 stores in 75 days to mark our 75th anniversary.

Let's do it anyway and see what happens.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

Got back from Toronto and picked up Judy and some ribs from Ted Cooks. Happy to be back in South Minneapolis. So many kids out having fun on this unseasonably warm night.

People are discussing how Halloween candy is so terrible these days. A reminder that alot of the candy we eat is made with women’s prison labor. Russell Stover’s factory in Kansas busses in 150 women a day via a convict leasing program to staff their candy factory.

Donald Trump's ICE just purchased the Appleton private prison for $496 million, making it the biggest real estate transaction in Minnesota history. I was proud to stand with folks in Appleton to protest this facility, and I'm ready to do the same in the U.S. Senate.

As we embark on the fall academic conference season I'm begging conference organizers to provide info on exhibit hours, booth set up, & breakdown times. Hotels and flights are EXPENSIVE. Editors & presses pay a ton of money to attend your conference. Tell us when we need to be there so we can plan

Topics I am ACTUALLY interested in: space mining, preternatural creatures, crystals, heat, concrete.

Preparing for the 4S meeting and I am a bit shocked at how AI has completely taken over as dominant panel topic. There are other topics... space mining, for example.

It's disgusting watching people buying into the "Tucker Carlson is making sense?!" bullshit and it's probably time to wrap our heads around the fact that the people susceptible to this are unconsciously fascist curious and just need the ugly delivered to them in an "acceptable" package
