If a Dem wins the presidency in 2028, they should rename the White House Ballroom “The Ida B. Wells Memorial Ballroom.” And then put gold (leaf) plaques on the back of every chair to dedicate them to the memory of a great civil rights leader. That would cause a satisfying kerfuffle on the Right.
This has been clear for a few months now. Trump lacks the ability and credibility to agree to anything with Iran at this point, so it’ll have to fall to his successor. And if it’s a Dem, the right will pillory them for fixing what Trump broke.
Chris Wright now says there may be no deal with Iran after all: "There may not be a nuclear agreement. It may be simply destroying their capabilities to do it. An agreement may await the next administration in Iran. We simply don't know that."
Trump's anti-market economic worldview on display. He believes that spending money is a sign of weakness. This is the same logic as his claim that last week that the precipitous decline in shipping volumes at the country's ports is "a good thing, not a bad thing," because "we lose less money."/1
There's a reason the White House didn't reveal the text of the "agreement" when making their big press splash announcing their agreement: It's a cup of tea without the bag.
Congrats to the journos who breathlessly reported on a US-UK deal that isn't. You got played (again).
It's a "deal," not a deal:
"This document serves to define the general terms for the EPD that set forth the shared desires of the US and the UK... Both the US and the UK recognize that this document does not constitute a legally binding agreement."

If a foreign adversary really wanted to undermine American manufacturers, they would make it so that every factory in the world -- except those in the United States -- can import the equipment they need from China without paying a 145% up charge.
“This happens today: if the investments in the banks fall slightly… a tragedy… what can be done? But if people die of hunger, if they have nothing eat, if they have poor health, it does not matter! This is our crisis today!”
-Pope Francis
I just re-read the story of Abraham and Isaac. I've got to think that they walked for a long time down Mount Mori'ah in total silence until Abraham looked at Isaac and said, "Let's not tell your mom about this."
Ultimately, and I mean this, Americans have to stop being giant babies about paying taxes. taxes are the price of a functional society. Everything we complain about in US...the disorder, the mess, the lack of services and support is because we don't pay taxes.
one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.
Bob Uecker hit .200 over six years as a backup catcher and turned that into 10 television shows, six movies, a fairly regular spot with Johnny Carson and 54 years calling games for the Brewers. That's quite a life.
Had to turn off the Texas-ASU game because the split screen with the stats bar at the bottom was driving my wife and I crazy. I was constantly looking in the wrong place, and it was giving me a headache.
I saw “Gladiator 2 (Electric Boogaloo)” tonight. I enjoyed it, but it took so much effort to suppress the firing of the “but akshully” gene located on my Y-chromosome.
The appeal to nature fallacy is the false belief that "natural" is better.
Natural things that can kill you? Pathogenic microorganisms.
Smallpox virus is natural. So is SARS-CoV-2. And poliovirus. And Rabies virus. So is Yersinia pestis, the bacteria that causes plague.
