This is glorious. Saw 10000 Maniacs at The Marquee in 1984, a stunning show

Happy birthday to Natalie Merchant. Here are 10,000 Maniacs performing My Mother the War on The Tube in 1984

There’s a million leaves being blown across Leith Links and I like to think they’ll all accumulate in a single pile that every dog will jump in where they’ll play together until it’s time to go home

Just saw an ad that said ‘you’ll never grow your business without AI’ and it’s like we’re being told we are useless and must hand all thinking over to the giant beast or we’ll starve but we know it’s actually the giant beast that’ll cause us to starve and yet, given some idiotic lack of faith in…

…ourselves, we’d rather trust the giant beast and take the risk and here we are, being led by fear and greed and ignoring the humanity that should lead us all

Our youngest has introduced me to ginger shots for a morning boost when feeling under the weather. It feels like what I imagine snorting ayahuasca does to you. Which Im hoping must be a good thing…

I for one am looking forward to blasting the music of Clive Dunn and the Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band from my Volvo as I cruise around Royston Vasey

Dismantling scaffolding at 7am is Alarm Clock Britain’s way of denying me a lie in on my day off. I could sleep through the rain but not the hammers and the smashing and the start of the week banter from the ACB frontline

30 hours at my 88 yr old mum’s has left me almost as demented as she is. It’s all petty worries, Countryfile, repetition, newspaper clippings & selective hearing. My kids know, when the time comes, they are to walk me up a big hill in midwinter and leave me to find my way home

I did 1 day in an exhaust pipe factory, Staffordshire, late 80s. Stuffing fibreglass into metal tubes. No gloves or overalls. Got shouted at by grown men on piece rates when I fell off the pace. Walked out and never returned

First single I bought with my own money. I’d wanted the Boney M LP but didn’t have enough cash so got this and Ma Baker. I recall the somewhat odd look the shop assistant gave me. From Aerco in Woking
