Had a great discussion with @refugeesinternational.org and Meaza Gebremedhin about the situation in Tigray, Ethiopia generally, and our role in all of it.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธNew from our podcast, Forced From Home. Renewed violence in Tigray has made headlines, but did the conflict ever end? Meaza Gebremedhin of the Harambee Collective discusses the toll of the previous war and the systematic sexual violence against women. www.refugeesinternational.org/actions/forc...

An excellent piece by @attackerman.bsky.social in @wired.com on the current situation of Gaza's hospitals

WIRED@wired.com

Seven foreign doctors and aid workers who volunteered in Gaza described a perverse situation in which Israel permits doctors into Gaza but not medical equipmentโ€”even months into a supposed ceasefireโ€”prompting several to smuggle medical supplies in, even as they treat new casualties of war.

"The scientific literature shows that more than 120,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023. If one attempts to account for the most obvious of design limitations in the Gaza Mortality Survey, itโ€™s clear that the death toll is likely greater than 215,000." - @ferozesidhwa.org

zeteo.comThe Truth About Gaza's Death Toll โ€“ Part 2: A Gross UndercountDr. Feroze Sidhwa dives deep into what scientific studies, plus his own experiences in Gaza's hospitals, tell us about how many people Israel has actually killed in the Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.

Once again, the American medical establishment throws its professed values out the window. GWU even forbid the students from holding a Zoom meeting with me. Keep in mind in the past two years I'm published in NEJM, JACS, JTACS, Dialogues in Health, World Journal of Surgery...

"About half of my patients were children. The other half were men and women obviously. As far as I could tell they were all civilians. I don't think I ever actually met a combatant in Gaza..."

"It has to do with what my government is doing. I come from a very powerful country that does a lot of things throughout the world that are dangerous, that are hurting people. And I think I have an obligation to do something about that."

I write about the need for a reckoning for attacks on health care in Gaza and an end to the erosion of the critical norms for protection of hospitals, the wounded and sick and their caregivers -- and how to achieve it. www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/a-re...

โ€œHow is it possible that, in this small hospital, four children are lying here with gunshot wounds to the headโ€”all admitted within the past 48 hours?โ€ said US trauma surgeon @ferozesidhwa.org.

Today Israel bombed Nasser to kill more journalists, waited until rescue workers got up to the scene on the 4th floor, then bombed them as well. This is a video of the second strike. We are arming a country that murders first responders and journalists in hospitals.
