A more technical article on best ways to build memory for AI agents.

Towards Data Science@towardsdatascience.com

What's the best way to provide an AI assistant with a functional memory? Abdullahi Dattijo thoroughly tested four approaches. Here are his findings.

Self-interested trade? It's not the end of globalization because many upstream & downstream processes still need imports & exports. But the idea that "high tides lift all boats" free trade is over. Things are going to stay expensive at the grocery store & people are more fearful of their neighbors.

โ€œThe age of orality was an age of social storytelling and flexible cultural memory. The age of literacy made possible a set of abstract systems of thoughtโ€”calculus, physics, advanced biology, quantum mechanicsโ€”that form the basis of all modern technology,โ€ Thompson writes.

Now the current demise of literate cultureโ€”exemplified by the growing prevalence of social media and decline in readingโ€”may be signaling a return to orality that is once again transforming the human experience, he argues.

This idea can be characterized by the orality theory of everything, which emerged from the work of mid-20th-century media theorists, especially Walter Ong & Marshall McLuhan.โ€œThey argued that the invention of the alphabet & the rise of literacy were among the most important events in human history.โ€

These developments moved communications from an age of oralityโ€”in which all information was spoken, and all learning was socialโ€”to an age of literacy, in which writing could fix words in place, and develop ever more complicated ideas that would have been impossible to memorize.

It's not your imagination. The majority of Americans think gasoline, groceries, going out to dinner, etc. have all become much more expensive in the last 8 months since the Iran War started.

Remarkable: The percentage of Americans who say gas is unaffordable has gone from 28% before Iran war to 71% today, www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Orange lying to the press and his voters about not disrupting Ukraine's abilities to defend itself from Russian invasion. He is restarting trade with Russia and building new data centers for Putin to continue meddling in elections in the US and other democracies.

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

The White House says the malicious manipulation of Ukrainian access to StarLink and StarShield is over. Zelenskyy says it continues. And Zelenskyy, of course, is correct.

It's been almost two years since Orange cutoff assistance to Ukraine in its war to defend itself from Russia. I knew Orange was meddling but he's been getting good cooperation from the media to avoid drawing attention to the downward death spiral he's laying on Ukraine despite international support.

Anonymous@youranoncentral.bsky.social

Polandโ€™s foreign minister says US has contributed nothing to Ukraineโ€™s defence since January 2025. EU now pays for US weapons, enriching US defence manufacturers, while Trump threatens to cut off supplies unless Ukraine stops striking Russian refineries.

"This paper documents at least two discrepancies between the natural language proof and the Lean code behind the solution OpenAI has offered to a problem derived from the Navier-Stokes equations that describe the complex behavior of fluids."

Follow up to my recent posts about Orange backstabbing Ukraine and snuggling up to Russia during this American political midterms.

Fascinating! I'd say Korean and Japanese culture has more influence than Chinese. I find Japanese food to be best and Korea has Blackpink and BTS! But America's influences are about fast food, short attention span tech, and unstable politics. China pushes for the Lunar New Year to be called Chinese.

China's influence in Southeast Asia is no longer measured only in trade and investment. Pop culture has become a powerful instrument in Beijing's soft-power play. trib.al/MOK8oc4

With rising natural gas and heating oil prices, plus tariffs on just about everything imported into the US, your American winter is going to get a lot more expensive and that struggle means more injuries and diseases to kill off more people.

Quite a bleak assessment of many modern orthopedic surgeries! Most back spinal surgery and shoulder surgeries are useless for any improvements. Neck surgeries, hips, and hand/foot surgeries are more helpful than not having them. Plus the expensive costs of anesthesia and PT!

Support term limits on SCOTUS! Who wouldn't?! Lifetime terms on the most powerful court in the US is just ridiculous during our short political cycles and even shorter attention spans!
