@webberross.bsky.social - discussion point for your podcast. This week has encapsulated what being a RFC fan is like currently - entertaining home draw vs. lucky/gutsy away win...How did you both feel after each game? Would you prefer a run of entertaining draws or a run of wins like Burton?..

Having Johnson & Cummings in Downing Street when Covid struck was, just like Brexit, an entirely avoidable disaster caused largely by utterly appalling journalism. And now exactly the same clowns, arses & bigots with bylines are rolling out the red carpet for Farage. www.thetimes.com/article/1b15...

Of course the Queen was Remain. You don’t sustain a hereditary monarchy by randomly pulling pins out of grenades for the lols at the urging of a cluster of snake oil chancers.

Nothing better sums up the threat to our democracy and country than this far right cosplaying champion of the working class lolling about in a Belgravia club and the Sunday Times giving him a megaphone to honk out his ruinous Trumpian populism to a public tired of govt failure (that he helped cause)

Because they're terrified of accusations they're betraying Brexit. It's the same in so many areas. They're hiding their successes and yelling about their weaknesses.

It is remarkable how little effort Starmer has put into making the case for his renegotiation. No “Bloomberg” speech, no policy papers. An interview three days before deal day is the first outing of substance. If his pro-EU coalition gives him no credit for it, it’s because hes asked for none.

not sure I recall Nigel Farage being so criticised for his repeated absence from EU fisheries meetings when he was an MEP & could represent British interests, or how his Brexit passion project has sold out British farming & how he’d do it again for a US trade deal

The US just voted alongside Russia, Belarus and North Korea against a UN resolution to support Ukraine. This is a wake-up call for all those cheerleading Trump in our country.

This is, by some distance, the most unforgivably stupidest thing the government is doing. An easily sellable proposal, which would actually help Brits, and unlocks meaningful negotiation. Irrational and anti-growth.

NEW: Yvette Cooper rules out a youth mobility scheme between the UK and EU: "That's not the right starting point for us at all." Brussels is demanding one as part of the government's "reset" of relations with the bloc.

Brexit was a “symbolic crusade”. This is how Gusfield described prohibition, another seemingly Quixotic cause that won because it was able to harness extremely diverse positions and creeds, ultimately to oppose non-Anglo Saxon immigrants. To explain the tide don’t look at the fish look at the moon.
