the purpose of a system is what it does

Our statement on the UK gov't's demand that all content on all devices sold or used in the UK be scanned, on the presumption of nudity, using a dystopian combination of age verification & content scanning. This proposal will not safeguard children. It endangers us all. signal.org/blog/pdfs/20...

FIFA has some serious questions to answer about fairness and equal treatment for all qualified teams and the crew.

the first is formal verification tools that can be applied alongside an existing codebase: you keep the contract language and implementation model mostly as they are, then use external tooling to specify and prove properties about the code.

SSZ gives canonical, deterministic bytes. Using it as the adapter avoids ad-hoc serialization and makes signatures portable across implementations.

Signing can be deceptively expensive when it allocates in the hot path. Allowing the caller to provide a buffer makes the memory cost explicit, lets the operation stay on the stack when possible, and reduces latency jitter under load.

The trade-off is ergonomic: you must size the buffer correctly and handle the error path when it is too small, but the determinism is worth it in latency-sensitive systems.

I've always believed software architecture is the user interface of the code itself and that belief became impossible to ignore once I started bouncing between Ed25519 and BLS12-381 in real protocols.

Apple's liquid glass isn't going anywhere because they will slowly nerf the effect every update due to all readability issues. It needs refinement and is def not a final state overall. they should let people decide, being opt-in.

Great advances have been made to decrease energy consumption and emissions of hardware. However, those are often canceled out by poorly optimized software and resource-intensive runtime environments.

I wonder what the bots will be tuned to do. I would avoid this past generation drama on this platform. This could be used against people personally, if well orchestrated.

After some hacking I can now introduce you Harvest Moon At this week I was interested in running a decentralized community-based fact-checking system, as a game theory experiment to see how voters behave under such incentive to collaborate in the decision making process.

Note: this is an experimental project, no research has been conducted to actually prove economic costs of this governance system.

At the moment, those platforms mirror exactly the same problem that they are trying to solve, by not having a truly diverse group of people in a general public to score and fact-check the information.

So, the idea here explores an innovative approach of decision-making by integrating quadratic voting with anonymity and a slash-reward mechanism for voters.

Important: the goal is not to correct every piece of information; rather, it serves to remind individuals of the existence of multiple perspectives, that certain kinds of posts that look convincing and engaging in isolation can be actually quite incorrect.

The most popular Community Notes exemplifies the challenges faced when implementing fact-checking systems. In communities predominantly leaning towards a specific political ideology, the system may fail to deliver unbiased fact-checking.

which is something that the Quadratic Voting system can help to achieve using also the commit-reveal voting system to prevent inside-trading.

Important to note is that this project aims to be platform agnostic and should act as a collactor to verify the veracity of posts, calculating its outcomes rating and publish to the public.

Ok, but let’s dig into it: for community-based fact-checking systems to achieve their intended purpose of enhancing information accuracy, they must be designed with mechanisms that ensure a balanced representation of diverse and genuine point of view;

I am looking forward to see how this is gonna play out, even if the domain verification has strong security credibility already, reasonable options such as PoP would make @bsky.app the anti-bot open network.

6/ We also hear your feedback: users want more ways to verify their identity beyond domain verification. We’re exploring additional options to enhance account verification, and we hope to share more shortly.

After implementing the macOS trackpad force pressure on #neovide and using it in a daily-basis, the action of hitting reference links just became elegant and solid.

clicking anywhere on the trackpad with a consistent amount of force and having a customized action for it is something that once you have it you can't go back.

Plus there is also a customizable <ForceClick> register which can be triggered using a keymap for every time I avoid the trackpad usage.

The blue ticks are essential for preventing identity theft and presumably they have criteria that was fit for purpose - which was used back in the day.
