If you still have the Epic Games Launcher on your system, don't update it and get it the fuck off of your computer. There's no telling what damage it can do or what vibecoded landmines are waiting in it.

Brazil Game Show was both an incredibly surreal experience -- being there as an exhibitor, but also very underwhelming how much worse the event has become. The worst thing for sure was seeing so much AI all around. Entire games, food menus, flyers. It's just sad, really.

if i was told 5 years ago games in the future could be reverse engineered and ported to basically anything with an automated tool i'd have been ELATED it really saddens me i'm forced to hate this because of techno-fascist billionaires that basically usurped this and the entire field of AI

these are literally some of the few cases LLMs could be really cool to me. reviving and maintaining old abandonware? porting games to MAC, obscure hardware, old consoles and shit? that's fucking dope. but nope. it's all attached to a fake trillion dollar bubble that is driving the world to ruin

the thing about llms for writing code is there's this really unique dopamine hit programmers feel when things are shipped it feels to me like a tiktok-ification of software dev. starting new projects and seeing them work in minutes with barely any work tingles the same as doomscrolling

it used to be that my job as a software dev was basically solving puzzles. try a piece, scratch your head, think where it could go, move around ones that were wrong. eventually, you'd have something in your hands. but it's the feeling of accomplishment that did it for me, not the "something" itself.

and while i don't feel as much dread for the coming of AI in my "pay the bills" kind of field as I do for my loved, hobby ones ( music, writing, and making games), i can't help but mope; that something so dear was taken from me. something i learned to love as a kid, that's always been part of me.

sure i can still make stuff, and i'll keep making stuff. but i cannot say this hasn't affected my drive, especially when i think that now anything you make competes directly with the mountain of slop and sludge that spews out and grows bigger and bigger each day. anyways. to the future, i guess.

so much of that is gone. now it's 4 puzzles at once, but you're not the one doing the solving, you're telling a machine to do it. then you look at it every couple minutes, and some is right, some it just tore pieces in half. so you babysit it until you have "the something". but the whimsy is dead.

i never thought my career would reach a point where so much of my work is talking to a chat bot. don't get me wrong, there's still """architecture""" and """system design""", but in the end that's just drawing scribbles and writing text (which even that we've been kinda robbed of). it's kinda tragic
