It is so, so funny that they think this is a gotcha

What’s wild is this man could’ve done so much with gifts like these. Once in a generation orator. He still has every bit of juice on his fastball. God what a wasted opportunity

once again: they are flailing, they are desperate, they have no plan, and they are panic-throwing shit against the wall to see if anything sticks that this stuff is scary doesn’t mean we need to grant them the presumption that it will work
The Justice Department's last-second letters about noncitizen voting contain people with no history of voting whatsoever, and they're moving so fast they sloppily sent one county the wrong list of names.
I’m sorry but I’m gonna keep on this. Like this is back patting from people who want to do nothing about the status quo and feel like heroes for it. The lesser evil does not help the system get better over time, it just is our only fucking choice unless we do something to break that paradigm
It is, fundamentally, an exercise of choosing the lesser evil, over and over and over again, so that the total amount of evil in the system decreases over time. And you must keep doing it, because - since evil is easy - good is easily reversed.

even abstracted into hypothetical maths this doesn't make any sense. picking the lesser evil still makes things more evil, just by a lesser amount

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"
Unified Theory of Pam (“in any human field of endeavor, there will be a single person—Pam—miraculously holding things together, and if anything happens to Pam, we are hosed”) remains undefeated
70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...
