2/3 💻 We simulated what happens when only part of a cattle herd receives worming treatment. Leaving more animals untreated helped insects clear dung 💩 But flies 🪰 and beetle groups 🪲 responded differently: better dung removal didn’t mean every group benefited.

3/3 🐄 Treating only the cattle that need it could help balance parasite control with protecting wildlife. 🌱 Next step? Test these predictions on farms, measuring dung removal AND the insects present. Cowpats being cleared doesn’t mean every insect group is thriving 🪲

Those physically realistic models predict subpolar gyre tipping around 2040-2050. This would lead to a local cooling of 1-2 degrees in 10 to 20 years. The Nordic seas would warm, the jet stream shift northward and in summer high pressure over Scandinavia could lead to more (intense) heat waves.
