imagine: Henry pursues a master's at NYU, in international something-something because that's the compromise he had to make to get to go. he shares a class with Alex, and since Alex hasn't taken the time to make friends, the seat next to him is always empty. you see where this is going. #rwrbsky

and Henry has no idea. all of this happens while Cash is clearing the perimeter, none of it while Henry's around. so the first time Henry catches them at it, he's basically in shock. his stoic, silent, insanely hot desk mate has a *personality?* lord have mercy.

... and I guess they banter and fuck about it, not necessarily in that order. heart eyes! the end.

and here's where it gets even more fun: Alex had security for a little while when his mom almost got the nomination for president. it's exactly why he knows not to rant about the monarchy to Henry's face. but he also understands the security guy's job. knows how monotone and boring it can get.

so while he can't talk to Henry at all, he can in fact talk to Cash. just being friendly. making Cash's loop around the lecture hall less boring. before long, they're trading jokes. by midterms, Alex is asking about Cash's nieces. come Christmas, they've a secret handshake.

but here's where it gets fun: Alex has no idea how to talk to Henry. he's infuriated and a little turned on by how Henry holds his own in class, but doesn't trust himself to speak without causing Henry's security detail to kick him out. so he clams up. bolts as soon as class ends. they don't chat.
