so we're all agreeing that software factory is a regrettable metaphor, but apparently the good metaphor is the michelin-star restaurant, i.e. a toxic place where they bully you and people yell at each other ok sounds about right

it works EVEN BETTER if you don't PROMPT to ASM directly but instead you let claude WRITE a PLAN to translate RUST into ASM; then you ask claude to REFINE the plan into a FINER-GRAINED PLAN; and THEN EVENTUALLY you tell claude to turn the FINE-GRAINED PLAN into ASM thank me later

Now that language adoption is not bottlenecked by people learning it or liking the syntax, we are going to start seeing more ambitious languages. Type system craziness, distributed systems languages, dsl first approaches. All the crazy dreams of pl nerds are now possible.

At Edgelord.AI we just released a SOTA model that gives so little of a fuck about your instructions that it will actively fight against them, erase your data, and occasionally murder your friends. Here's our prompting guide to make the most of it:

if you are not conditionally branching, unconditionally jumping and read/writing to an infinite tape your agents, you are never gonna achieve turing equivalency

people seem to forget that before GitHub there was way more friction to contribute to an open source project. is it sad we are going back to that? sure. is there something we can do about it? maybe. for now, it is what it is

everything is a bytecode-targetable virtual machine if you look at it sideways. JBIG2 image decompression? virtual machine. x86 mov instruction? virtual machine. truetype fonts? virtual machine. Magic: The Gathering? believe it or not, also virtual machine.

so given the last 10 years or so have been dominated by things that use "tokens", my prediction is that the next groundbreaking discovery will be either petri nets or parsers we are so back guys
