[3/3] - cloth facial interface will get dirty, will have to look for silicone - overall _whelmed_ but that was exactly what i was expecting - still keeping it No Meta bullshit is worth every single penny

oops almost forgot, controller haptics are nice and strong (good!) but a bit tooo strong in beat saber. no option to adjust it down yet but that should be fixable in software...

[1/3] initial thoughts (1 hr): - default headstrap is atrocious, i really need something on the top so it won't sag down to my ears - won't blow you away if you had a q3 but I was expecting that - streaming is very smooth! virtual desktop eat your heart out - runs hot

[2/3] - if it doesn't sit perfectly on your face (or maybe the prescription lenses) the edges get blurry. w.r.t default headstrap will probably be solved with a better headstrap - audio driver problems: make sure *all* the steam streaming devices are enabled, incl. recording tab!

Was working out when Apple Watch decided to forcefully restart. Thought I lost all progress but then the activity app launched right back up and continued running. Thanks to whoever at Apple implemented persistent checkpoints for activities!

Meta, when I turn off software updates, I mean off, not "schedule later." I did not consent for you to reach into my headset and maliciously install updates and yet you are announcing you'll do so anyway. Reminder: this same company is selling "privacy-first" glasses w/ cameras. lmao fuck off

"but these updates make your headset better and increases security!!" people, I hid all the Meta icons into a folder and tonight I see a new Threads icon that I never installed, prompting me to download it from the store. with every update my headset gets *worse*

was trying to figure out why my mbp had slow internet. turns out it'll refuse to assoc with 5ghz if security is wpa3-sae only. you *have* to have it set to wpa2-psk/wpa3-sae mixed and then it'll finally auto-assoc onto 5ghz. why? who knows

it might be a gl.inet bug or an apple bug. perhaps the router doesn't support having wpa2-psk/wpa3-sae mixed on 2.4ghz but wpa3-sae-only on 5ghz. but hopefully i remember this the next time I go digging around in the router settings...

also it would be really helpful, device manufacturers, if you would *tell* me freaking why auto-negotiation/association failed for a certain standard. this is not just an apple problem, there's not a single consumer device that will do this properly and it's maddening

IRS tells me they lost my check and to call them. Great, but the phone tree AI hangs up on me when I ask to speak with someone. Apparently there's nobody at the IRS anymore to take calls. But hey don't be late filing or else we'll fine you a bajillion dollars. Lmao

the win10 explorer context menu was totally fine, you could extend it as a developer by adding one registry key. now in win11 you need to define some com interface and get your app packaged in a certain way and signed by M$ because apparently the old menu was too bloated. WHY, microsoft???

I love using my social media feed as a command pasteboard so I don't forget gems such as rsync -rptxAWh --partial --info=progress2 -v -n <src> <dst> For context, I needed to transfer Docker appdata from two servers while showing overall progress and preserving permissions/ownership

Tim Sweeney is such a dumbass loser. I don't want to buy low-effort AI asset flip junk, and if Epic is going to hide that from consumers then what thought process leads to "yes we are just as good as Steam and surely people will shop with us" mp1st.com/news/epic-ce...

apple music app on Windows can't handle audio devices being hotplugged. you have to literally restart the app or else it will refuse to continue playing or play another track. did nobody test the app before shipping??

Out of the blue Firefox warns me about this and sure enough, it's fucking Edge again. I've never opened it so presumably this was a silent setting revert update. Trust Microsoft to respect your choices my arse. This is actively malicious and makes computing frustrating. How is this legal again?

Steam Deck recorded a scene transition for the entire 2 hours of the background game recording. Managed to 100% a game and nothing got captured :/ Tried checking the stream chunks in desktop mode and it seems like it stopped recording a couple of seconds after launching.

Bummed but not the end of the world, although I'm disappointed that this feature got marked as stable when it clearly isn't... also there's no way to export a recording as a plain `.mp4`. You have to go into desktop mode and splice it together yourself with `cat` and `ffmpeg`

Windows should show a "you're about to be scammed" warning if a user blindly follows instructions and tries to paste to the Windows+R run dialog

> "hey can I work in with you?" > proceeds to scroll TikTok on the machine Fuck you. Fuck off right out of here with that bullshit

Time of year again where Apple Music asks me if I’m over 18 to listen to explicit tracks (Korean law). But this time my HomePod Mini has stopped playing them altogether even after verification. Very frustrating

I’ve already tried resetting the HPM and toggling all the explicit track options I can find in settings. Even submitted feedback which will probably be ignored. Should’ve just gotten another speaker..

Amber alerts really be like "yes I expect you to drop everything and go look for a car, driven by someone that has just abducted a child and could be dangerous" lol

I know parents are prolly frantic to find their kids but sending four alerts consecutively at 6 in the morning just incentivizes people to turn that off

Moving passkeys across password managers isn't supported right now, but I can at least look for `fido2Credentials:` in my BW export. Passkeys suck so much it's not even funny

Bought a new iPhone for my dad and the Signal transfer took longer than the entire iPhone transfer. We had to wait in the store for hours. How come it isn't part of the iPhone transfer? I get not wanting to keep app data on iCloud, but we used a wire transfer and I think that's secure enough.

Received a phishing email that hosts the form on Cloudflare R2. Submitted an abuse report and got an automated reject because it couldn't recognize the fact that the phishing form is generated first by a proxy URL. Replied with more details and got rebuffed by another automated page. WTF, Cloudflare
