My small thought here, since so many others have made other large points: Can we all agree to use the casual othering of “they” with more care?
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."
I’m no apologist for the USAF, but facts are facts. SAASS did NOT emerge because the AF was dazzled by the success of Army planners in Desert Storm. Any discussion of Desert Storm planning that ignores the AF planners, Warden, etc., is DEEPLY parochial. Note: I haven’t read the book yet.
Senator Tillis appears to absolve himself of all responsibility for these outcomes, forgetting his votes and his failures to impose oversight. History will judge America, but it will absolutely judge Thom Tillis.
Republican Senator Thom Tillis: “Putin is playing President Trump like a fiddle. And history is not going to look good on an America that failed to rise up and defend the Western world.”

In this new epidode of The Strategy Bridge Podcast, @prbeckman.bsky.social talks with Kevin Benson about the origins of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) and the influence of its graduates on Operation Just Cause and Desert Storm. thestrategybridge.org/the-podcast
Hey @proreferees.bsky.social and @mls.bsky.social, I’ll admit @dcunitedofficial.bsky.social is a bad team, you admit your officials owe Kijima a written apology, and we’re even? No? Cowards and incompetents. All of you.
Hey @proreferees.bsky.social & @mls.bsky.social. Me again. @dcunitedofficial.bsky.social is bad, but Guido Gonzales is shameful. You should be ashamed. He CREATES a break by setting a pick, then awards a yellow on the break HE created? Then a BIZARRE second? Along with the rest of his nonsense?

@prbeckman.bsky.social and Kevin Benson discuss the impact of SAMS: “And [JUST CAUSE] was the first real test of SAMS graduates. And folks kind of looking around going, wow, that was pretty good. Hey, maybe we can use some of these guys on our staff. Now, the next big test would be DESERT STORM.”
I’ve been surprised and delighted. Of the 76 (yes, I’m counting) titles I’ve put out for students and faculty, they appear to be going to people who want them.
Funny that beginning the cull of my shelves at work makes retirement (still months away!) feel more real than orders did. The first 50(ish) titles going on the “free to a good home” shelf.

In the new @Strategy_Bridge podcast our host @prbeckman.bsky.social talks with Kevin Benson about his new book “Raising the Bar: The School of Advanced Military Studies and the Introduction of Operational Art into US Army Doctrine, 1983-1994.” thestrategybridge.org/the-podcast
William Schneider called this combination of past tense and passive voice the “past exonerative.” Who voted (or didn’t) to enable or limit ICE in these activities? Who executed effective oversight (or didn’t)?
Susan Collins: "I think what happened is far too many ICE officers were hired and deployed without adequate vetting and training"

Took the long way home from a wedding near Leesburg so we could stop by the site of my favorite Civil War battle: Monocacy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_...
Re-read one of my favorite @thestrategybridge.bsky.social articles (by the inimitable @notabattlechick.bsky.social). thestrategybridge.org/the-bridge/2...
Now thinking about watching a little docudrama titled “No Retreat From Destiny: The Battle That Rescued Washington.” m.youtube.com/watch?v=9fYl...

Perhaps astonishing that this is NOT the most pathological position I’ve heard from the senior levels of the USG just TODAY.
The FBI wants to hire the Ultimate Fighting Championship to train its special agents under a one-year deal that would bypass the competitive bidding process typically used for federal contracts, according to federal records.
I’ve read this. If you’re even remotely inclined toward birds as lovely and interesting and a possible hobby (or obsession), you might want to read it, too.
I looked back at more than 100 years of TV and movies and charted how birding and birders have been portrayed over time in a new piece for @audubon.org There are distinct eras! The Golden Years! The Bleak Years! Lots of bow ties! Popeye! Angela Lansbury! Much more! www.audubon.org/magazine/his...

I have a thought about @mls.bsky.social. The real difference between this & other leagues (with exceptions and on average) is not the players. It’s the officiating clown show, with @proreferees.bsky.social the lead clown. Many MLS players would survive in other leagues…none of our officials would.
I’m increasingly inclined to stop giving these people my money, time, & attention. They take food off the tables of players, joy from fans, & suffer no meaningful consequence. Well fuck you @mls.bsky.social & @proreferees.bsky.social. I wish for constant thrombosed bleeding hemorrhoids for you.
Jumping Jesus Christ on a pogo stick. No reputable study shows “vaccine injury” to be anything but vanishingly small…and accommodated in the public health recommendations for vaccination schedules. He’s a crank, a conspiracist, and without any evidence to support his rejection of…well…science.
RFK Jr: "We care about every child who dies from measles. They get headlines. We should care about the children who are dying or suffering or being injured by vaccine injuries."
Knowable & known problems w/well-defined requirements for decades prior to this imbroglio. The Army, Air Force, Navy, etc., could not at any point get out of their own way. I’ve said for years that we need our own Jena-Auerstedt. Maybe this is it, at lower cost than Prussia paid. Fools learning.

Other than “use the Oxford comma and two spaces after a period,” I have one piece of consistent advice: If you can, call your Dad. “There’s a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done. Keep me in your heart for a while.” m.youtube.com/watch?v=RMTK...
I’ve got $1 that says the admin does it anyway. The history here is one of general disregard for judicial orders.
