Today seemed like a good day for a loaf of #sourdough. This loaf has spelt, white whole wheat, oatmeal and a little rye. It took forever to proof, but overall I’m happy with the results. 😋

RIP Ranger: Feb. 11, 2018 to Oct. 11, 2026 It was hard to say goodbye last night. Ranger lost his battle with cancer yesterday In the morning, he seemed like his old self, full of energy and went on one of his favorite walks. Around noon, he started to fade and passed shortly after six.

Does it seem like the mail has slowed down in the last week? Normally hardly a day goes by that we don’t receive something in the mail, but we’re going on day four of nothing. It could just be our house, but my neighbor noticed the same thing. I’m wondering if others are experiencing the same?

Rain’s always welcome, but it would be nice if we could get it without the flooding and mudslides. Hopefully things will cool down sooner rather than later too. Right now the heat is absolutely oppressive. www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/n...

The morning it happened, I tuned into Good Morning America and the first plane had already hit the World Trade Center. While the news people were talking about the terrible accident, the second plane hit.

25 years ago, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people, including 2,753 New Yorkers. As we remember that terrible day, let us also remember the first responders, office workers and strangers who ran toward danger to help each other.

I came home from the gym to find Ms. Scout living her best life. 😝 Once again, I’m reminded that “No dogs on the bed” is meaningless when no humans are home. 😂

Good point!

Surveillance is not safety, and safety is not surveillance. When one officer can allegedly search his ex-girlfriend’s license plate more than 10,000 times, the danger of unchecked surveillance is clear. Texans shouldn’t have to surrender our privacy and freedom just to feel safe.

In this instance, at least the cop got into a little trouble, though he didn’t get arrested and him loosing his job doesn’t even appear to be on the table. Once again I have to ask, do the police EVER use these things to solve actual crimes? www.jalopnik.com/2241898/woma...

So much for a prosecutor being able to indict a ham sandwich with a grand jury. This refusal to indict a man for destroying a license plate reader highlights a pattern of public resistance to surveillance technology collecting data on ordinary drivers without a warrant. san.com/cc/grand-jur...

This is grubby and corrupt! Acting on advice from Michelin and Bridgestone, who testified during the rule making, the California Energy Commission is going to mandate when new tires need to be purchased. Obviously tire manufacturers can’t believe their good luck. www.sfgate.com/travel/artic...

Sheep and goats to the rescue! They’ve got a huge mixed flock clearing dried vegetation near my house. I’ve seen flocks do the same for fire prevention up on hillsides, but this is the first time I’ve seen them down by the road.
