Boston EMS is proud to welcome Recruit Class 2026-1! Last week, 28 new recruits took their first steps into a challenging and rewarding journey, beginning months of hands-on training led by our exceptional Training Captains and Field Training Officers. (1/2)

To close out their first full week, the class had the privilege of hearing from a remarkable group of Boston EMS retirees. Thank you to our retired members who returned to share their insight, lessons learned, and the kinds of stories you can only gather over a lifetime of service.

On One Boston Day, we pause to honor the spirit that has always defined this City: strength, compassion, resilience, and the commitment to show up for one another. Today Boston EMS honors the lives lost and those forever changed on April 15, 2013.

Today at Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 26 new EMTs and the promotion of 8members of our department. After 6 months of intensive academy training—and more than 3,000 9-1-1 calls answered in the field —these recruits officially joined our Boston EMS family.

We also honored 8 members for their well-deserved promotions: 2 stepping into new roles as Lieutenants, and 6 advancing to Paramedic. These are people who lead by example and raise the bar for all of us. We are grateful for their leadership, clinical excellence, and commitment to this City.

Boston EMS teams were stationed throughout South Boston yesterday — and they needed to be. By day’s end, our members navigated huge crowds, responded to more than 70 patient encounters, and transported 28 patients to area hospitals.

Join us in congratulating our six newest Paramedics - Kevin Pywell, Kwang Koo, Matthew Derby, David Ramos, Sebastian Morales, and Sam Cedrone. All six were promoted from EMT to Paramedic Monday during a private badging ceremony at headquarters.

Each member of this group earned a department-awarded paramedic scholarship, achieved their paramedic certification, passed the department’s promotional exams, and completed a rigorous three-month paramedic internship. We are proud of their hard work and grateful for their continued service.

This Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we reflect on Dr. King’s enduring legacy of unity, service, and nonviolence. Boston EMS is honored to uphold these principles through the compassion and care we provide each day to the people of Boston.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Superintendent Jack Pearsull (C-4, Retired). Jack joined Boston EMS in 1998 and spent nearly a quarter century serving the City of Boston with unwavering dedication, compassion, and humility.

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Superintendent Jack Pearsull (C-4, Retired). Jack joined Boston EMS in 1998 and spent nearly a quarter century serving the City of Boston with unwavering dedication, compassion, and humility.

Over the years, he rose through the ranks— as an EMT, Paramedic, Shift Commander, Deputy Superintendent, and ultimately Superintendent of Training, Professional Development and Community Initiatives, before retiring in January of 2023.

In November, EMT Gunther answered a 911 call from a man experiencing severe emotional distress and expressing intent to self-harm. Andrew used his calm presence and clear communication skills to build trust and ensure the caller remained on the line until help arrived to bring him to safety.

His steady professionalism played a critical role in preventing a tragic outcome. Yesterday, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts presented EMT Gunther with a certificate recognizing his outstanding work and compassion during this tense situation. Well done, EMT Gunther.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and the entire Uxbridge Police Department on the devastating loss of their fallen officer. Today, our thoughts are with all who knew him and with those who served alongside him.

ICYMI: Yesterday Boston EMS EMT Baird Lashley and our Honor Guard represented the Department at the Inauguration Ceremony of Mayor Michelle Wu and Boston City Council. EMT Lashley delivered a powerful rendition of the National Anthem that made us all proud.

Regina will also be remembered for her wicked sense of humor, her kindness, and her exceptional strength — a true warrior spirit. She was a supportive colleague both on and off duty, often cheering on our EMS hockey team and lifting up those around her.

Even as she faced a long illness, EMT Suprin continued to serve with extraordinary courage, inspiring everyone who knew her. She is already deeply missed by her Boston EMS family. Our hearts are with all who loved Regina. Rest in peace, EMT Suprin. We’ve got it from here.

Boston EMS is deeply saddened to announce the passing of active-duty EMT Regina Suprin, Badge 1066. A lifelong Boston resident, Regina proudly served her city for more than 13 years. Throughout her career, EMT Suprin built a reputation as a consummate professional and a steadfast colleague.

She served in multiple roles — in Field Ops, in Dispatch Ops, as a lead Field Training Officer in the Academy, and most recently in the ePCR Office at Headquarters. In every assignment, Regina brought unmatched dedication, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence that strengthened our department.

A gifted mentor, she helped shape a generation of EMTs and left an impact that will carry forward for years to come. Her contributions were recognized with numerous commendations, including the 2024 Chief of Department Award for her professionalism and outstanding service.

Please join us in congratulating our department’s newest Lieutenants, Brian Bailey and Randy Brinson. With nearly 25 combined years of service at Boston EMS, they bring extensive field and dispatch experience to our supervisory ranks.

In the coming weeks, they’ll complete additional training as they transition into their new roles. We wish them continued success and thank them for their dedication to our department and the City of Boston. A formal promotional ceremony will be held this spring. Congratulations, Lieutenants!

Boston EMS proudly welcomes Cadet Class 25-2, who began their training program this week. While employed by Boston EMS, these Cadets will work toward earning their EMT certification under the mentorship of our experienced training staff. (1/2)

Their goal: to verify that every resource required for critical, life-saving care is ready to go, performing preventive maintenance and replacement, as needed. Thank you to the dedicated professionals behind-the-scenes who keep our EMTs and Paramedics equipped to serve Boston safely and effectively.
