It's been such a staggering change from when I was able-bodied that it's hard to confront let alone even begin describing how much worse everyone treats you when you're disabled.
I've been passed over for work, lost friends and partners, and get treated like shit by random people in public.
To celebrate the Kickstarter launch, I've created a free one-shot adventure set in the Beacon: Koronil setting. This is perfect for a Halloween one-shot and serves as an introduction to both Beacon gameplay and the new setting.

Beacon: Koronil is live on Kickstarter! This Halloween-themed expansion for the Beacon TTRPG features a new setting created by @superdracula.bsky.social and a TON of new game materials and rules like the Kettle Mage class, Reaper variant job, and Arachnid boss.

You know recent talk about stuff (yes, its Uchikoshi related) has made me think again on how important it is to just be DONE with a piece of work, like after a certain point you just gotta say "i'm done send it" you can't just do constant revisions forever.
And as a creative, that hits hard.
I often think about this annecdote I heard somewhere about how you need to manage creatives, because they will otherwise crunch themselves into a burnout.
Somewhere along, we made those creatives managers, and we told the managers they needed perfection without time, so crunch just exists.
Its not to blame creatives for crunch, more so that in an ideal world we don't live in, managers would be looking out for them by forcing them to be done after a certain point before it becomes caustic to themselves.
Unfortunately we live in a capitalist hellscape, joy.

And as a creative, that hits hard.
We're constantly made to feel like our worth is our work, that to get seen and get the attention we want, we need to be perfect, to do the very best we always can, and after a certain point that pressure is just toxic for yourself and your own work.
You cannot make the perfect work.
Let go.
Reading this Famitsu interview Uchikoshi did and it seems that the reason the Crash Keys game was canceled was because *Uchikoshi* wanted to use AI, not the publisher. This snippet is driving me nuts. Makes all the posturing with Hundred Line read extremely shallow.
I still like the piece a lot so I'm gonna share it again. Also I just wanna say that we somehow played a whole campaign of this and nobody died! Palace blasphemy is fucking amazing dude

does anyone have that video of the muppets scene where kermit is looking at the fake kermit in the mirror but it has metallic madness bad future over it
Here at the Shinra office, overheard a new employee talking about video games. Turned around and told them that I have faith in three companies, the three B's: Bethesda, Bioware, and Blizzard. He turned his head away with a huge grin on his face as he said, "Yeah, those are pretty strong companies"
"Men need to sacrifice themselves for the mission"
Awww you're sweet
"What if being treated as disposable and useable was my kink"
hello human resources?!!!
This is how people who complain about Mechsploitation sound btw
Penguin Colony is not messing around with its statement on the Palestinian genocide, banning sale in Israel and calling out the games industry in-game https://bit.ly/4zHsD9m
Just in case anyone thinks that this was a reasonable response, here's my prior email which said quite explicitly that I have attended many times before, and that the reason for my non-attendance was explicitly their lack of AI policy and protections.
You may appreciate the naked contempt dripping from this email reply @loremistress93.bsky.social.
Just a reminder to all UK creatives that UKGE does not give a shit about you or your opinions, and the recent AI stuff is more than just a simple mistake.
Developed in the last years of the Second Committee, the Everest pattern now known as the Sagarmatha experienced some of the bloodiest infighting ever witnessed in Union's history. Both SecComm loyalists and revolutionary forces fielded countless variants in fratricidal struggle.
Hey Gang, I know there's a lot of people that ran this, loved it, and drew lovingly made fanart.
So we're gonna run an art contest, post your Weeping Mountain fanart in my discord.

Been thinking a lot about that "what if you had a $10,000 budget to make a TTRPG" post this morning and I can't figure out whether my main takeaway is that everyone in this industry is horribly underpaid, or if the majority of indie games only exist because designers do most of the work themselves
These dipshits are too cowardly to announce their slop on their own site because they know they'll get rightfully goofed on for it
@bsky.app@safety.bsky.app suck a fart out my ass you god damn losers

Want a fun adventure to run for CAIN that is ALSO free just like the game is right now?
How about checking out Operation Weeping Mountain, my starter adventure for CAIN about a series of terrible murders in a remote mountain town?

The developer behind Teach My Little Sister How to Drive, a driving generative AI-powered instruction sim, has been spending $1000 a day to keep the demo running, and now, they've had to take out a bank loan to keep up. https://bit.ly/4rWqe8g
I have been hard at work on the next version of SOAR, here is some of the stuff I have to show for it: Faction Level play.
Basically, next version will come with a premade setting with 3 big factions, all with their playbook, the game will work much more on a day by day basis.
You will basically be able to run this game as a GM without doing much prep other than enemy composition and knowing the rules, at least that is the hope, we will see how this actually shapes out in practice.

This is my attempt to kinda channel the fact that SOAR has always had a little bit of a sort of "immersive sim" vibe in terms of systems colliding and interacting in interesting ways.
The worst of this update is still in front of me, and that's me needing to make a shit ton of maps for it.
The Running Man (2025) is a movie with excellent set design and some really good tone stuff sometimes ruined by a plot that is 90% "dad is angry because familly is in danger" by volume in a way that undercuts the plot of him becoming a revolutionary icon by the end
This film could have been about how capitalism subsumes all critique into itself, instead it is a movie that subsumed the book's message into capitalism itself.
Really ended with "turn the tv off!" like that was a deep message.
What are we cooking here man, come on now 9/11 was 25 fucking years ago now, this movie fucked up because it tried to adapt the themes of the original (weaponized TV propaganda with honest to god communist hunting) and make it about modern day without changing that specific aspect.
