This has been my pinned tweet over at The Old Place for the last several years, with the caption: #TBT to December 1977, when I cared more about the Billboard charts than I do now.

NO, I will not tell you what my special surprise special is on @wfmu.bsky.social at the top of the hour. IT'S A SURPRISE! You'll just have to tune in and find out for yourself. Listen on the radio in NJ / NYC / Catskills / Hudson Valley, or online at wfmu.org, or use our free smartphone apps!

Not trying to brag, but I've got my local Fox broadcast synced up with the Milwaukee radio feed via Airplay to my receiver. OK, fine, I *am* trying to brag.

Bonus: charming local ads for Usinger's Brats (with Robin Yount) and the like. Malus: cringeworthy local political ads.

Also! We're in the last 10 days of WFMU's HELLRAISER fundraiser and I'm still less than halfway to my fundraising goal (set by Station Manager Ken). If you haven't pledged yet I'd love to hear from you! pledge.wfmu.org/donate/ED Thank you, and thanks to everyone who's already pledged!

Today on my @wfmu.bsky.social radio show it's the triumphant return of SINGLES GOING SEVENTIES! I pulled about 200 7-inch records from my collection that were released between 1970 and 1979 (inclusive). Tune in from 3pm - 6pm EDT today to hear which 50 or so make it onto one of WFMU's turntables!

@rexparker.bsky.social Thanks for the shout-out today! Looks like the Finger Lakes competition was fun. Hand raised for filling in that one square the same way you did (and honestly I think 97 of 100 filling it that way is a low estimate).

Describing the Brewers trying to take the lead in a possible series-clinching game as "greedy" does not feel right.

I spent about half an hour this morning revisiting this gif from 2010 (no reason; why do you ask?), and I was not at all surprised to discover that Yankee Enthusiast #1 became a marketing manager at one of the big online sports betting companies.

But I was disappointed that an article I recall that created little histories for everyone in this gif doesn't seem to be online anymore, and I couldn't find it on archive.org either. Maybe someone out there knows where it's hiding?

Today's @wfmu.bsky.social show is starting in minutes and will include (in this order) records I bought in Sacramento and Reno last week; a tribute to Tony De Meur (Fab Poodles); The Professors of URGH!; and a live set from The Sleeves (members of Modern Nature). 3pm - 6pm NJ time on air and online!

Very very good time last night at the @wfmu.bsky.social crossword puzzle meet-up. Thanks to the 40 or so listeners and/or puzzlers who came out, and special thanks to @rexparker.bsky.social and Gary Cee for constructing puzzles and being a part of the event. Maybe we'll do it again next year!

It was so much fun to just hang out w/ other xword people and solve puzzles and talk puzzles and share my own puzzle and listen to Eno and Ono and Sade and Sia etc. Thanks to @wfmu.bsky.social & esp @efd.bsky.social for letting me be part of their 1st (hopefully not last) xword meet-up!

I feel like I should add that if you are only a WFMU listener, only a crossword puzzle fan – or neither! – you are also welcome to attend!
