🤖 Figma Make Figma’s AI tools just leveled up—marking a bold move into the AI app builder space. Go from prompt to code/backed prototype, tweak the design or code, and publish as a live web app. Entering the race with Bolt, Lovable, v0, Replit, Cursor, and more.

Love seeing Figma truly listening to its diverse customers/users, and shipping the features we’ve been waiting for. Also hyped about their bold leap into the fast-moving AI app builder space!

🐝 Figma Buzz New tools to speed up and automate branding and marketing asset creation. Haven’t explored it much yet, but it definitely feels like Figma’s answer to Canva. The race is on:)

🌐 Figma Sites Figma enters a new space, competing with Framer and Webflow. You can now publish designs as live websites, with CMS features coming soon. It may take time to mature, but the gap between design and code is clearly closing. Exciting times!

▦ Grid Auto Layout in Figma worked like CSS Flexbox, great for most UI needs. But now, Figma also supports CSS-style Grid layouts for more complex designs. Excited to try it out!

🖼️ Fills and effects Now you can add generative texture details to vector, directly in Figma. More creative flexibility, no need for PNG textures when SVG does the job!

🖍️ Draw tools FigJam was great for quick sketches, wireframes, and team alignment since 2021, but it always felt separate from the main design flow. Now, Draw mode bring that functionality directly into Figma Design files! Excited to try it out!

🖋️ Enhanced vector editing Figma’s now used beyond UI, by graphic designers and illustrators too. The community has long wanted better vector tools, and now we’ve got them: lasso, shape builder, multi-edit, and more for precise, detailed illustrations.

I rebuilt the app in Expo (because I prefer working in React and cross-platform). At first I struggled with performance, but after some optimizations, damn, React Native can be buttery smooth!

2️⃣ Begin with the End in Mind: Define your goals. Know where you’re going to ensure your daily actions align with your vision.

I'm prototyping a TUI inspired bookmarks tool for my website. It uses React's useOptimistic and useTransition hooks to create instant-feeling database updates. Also experimenting with a single monospace font size and using "ch" and "rem" units for character-based UI spacing.

🥧 Baked some landing page designs. Now working on few last desktop app mockups, and then back to code 👨‍💻

Back to the sketching board. Several weeks back I started coding a social quiz game. Implemented the main game logic and UX flow directly in code. Now it's time to polish the UI and give it some style.

It's also true that while I was coding, I have done a quick and dirty sketch in FigJam. It was more to imagine the UX flow better. The initial user research was not needed, as I am a user myself 😛 A perk of building a thing that you use yourself.

I'm building a social online game about discovering how well you truly know each other. Play one-on-one, at your own pace, with multiple people at once. Want early access? Drop a 👋

Productized Services 2.0: The Niches Twitter got tired of "all-inclusive" productized services, these don’t work effectively for complex product projects. What's emerging instead are niche productized services that provide one specific service in a specialized way. Examples:

love supabase, but several things stops me these days - limit of 2 databases, I need more for experimentation. I wish there were more maybe lower spec included in free plan - a lot of things done via dashboard. I like to keep things portable in code

A startup idea: STACK - a flash card-based approach to everything. Take the addictive elements of TikTok/Instagram and apply them to productivity. A smart stack that always knows what's most important or interesting. Could be OSS, and integrate to data sources. @gregisenberg.bsky.social

When starting a design and development agency or studio, should you brand it under your personal name and website, or create a separate brand name and dedicated business website?
