A new version of 2022.013, Genuary 12 of 2022: packing. As in 2022, circles appear where there is room and shrink when they touch, and now five cells push through them. S/N: 2026.027 Made with Ollin, open source at ollin.art #creativeCoding #generativeArt #ollin

A new version of 2022.012, for the 11th Genuary 2022 prompt: no computer. For that sketch I didn't write code. I drew a grid of squares on paper and filled each one with a pattern of lines. S/N: 2026.026 Made with Ollin, open source at ollin.art #creativeCoding #generativeArt #ollin

A new version of 2022.011, for the 10th Genuary 2022 prompt: machine learning, wrong answers only. S/N: 2026.025 Made with Ollin, open source at ollin.art #creativeCoding #generativeArt #ollin

The shapes in the background are placed on a grid with XOR, a simple math rule on the row and column numbers. The shapes move 262,144 particles around them.

A new version of 2022.009, for the eighth Genuary 2022 prompt: single curve only. One noise curve moves slowly, and a flow field pulls 131,072 particles toward it and along it. S/N: 2026.024 Made with Ollin, open source at ollin.art #creativeCoding #generativeArt #ollin

A new version of 2022.008, for the seventh Genuary 2022 prompt: Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing No. 797. The first line goes near the top of the wall. S/N: 2026.023 Made with Ollin, open source at ollin.art #creativeCoding #generativeArt #ollin

Every new line then tries to copy the one above it without touching it, in red, yellow and blue, down to the bottom. Noise does the copying here, and unlike in 2022, the lines never touch.

A new version of 2022.006, for the fifth Genuary 2022 prompt: destroy a square. A Voronoi fracture cuts a cube into over a thousand pieces that fit back together exactly. S/N: 2026.022 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #voronoi

A new version of 2022.005, for the fourth Genuary 2022 prompt: the next next Fidenza. Over 10,000 boxes move along a flow field, where noise gives every point on the screen a direction. S/N: 2026.021 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #flowField

A new version of 2022.004, for the third Genuary 2022 prompt: space. The spiral galaxy is drawn with tilted ellipses. S/N: 2026.020 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #galaxy

Each star moves on its own ellipse, turned a little more than the one before, so the stars line up in two arms. The arms have pink clouds and blue star clusters.

A new version of 2022.003, for the second Genuary 2022 prompt: dithering. Blobs melt together under a moving light. S/N: 2026.019 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #dithering

The shading is drawn as patterns of dots with a Bayer matrix, a small grid that repeats over the image. The dots glow green, like on an old CRT monitor.

A new version of 2022.002, for the first Genuary 2022 prompt: draw 10,000 of something. Ten thousand boxes fill a sphere with hidden lines removed, so only the visible edges are drawn. S/N: 2026.018 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #volumetricLight

Another reimplementation of a 2022 sketch. Small metal balls cover a Fibonacci sphere, each one a golden angle around from the last. S/N: 2026.017 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #fibonacciSphere

Another reimplementation of a 2021 sketch. Gooey blobs move on Lissajous curves, and their outline expands, ring after ring, until it fills the frame. When two blobs get close, their rings melt together. S/N: 2026.016 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #distanceField

I made this with Ollin, a creative coding framework for Swift and Metal. I wrote it for my sketches and use it every day. It is open source, in case anybody wants to play with it: ollin.art

Another reimplementation of a 2021 sketch. Gooey blobs move on Lissajous curves and leave a trail of outlines. S/N: 2026.015 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #distanceField

The blobs push the trail in front of them, like a body moving through water. A distance field tells every pixel how far the edge is, so the lines close to it slide away and the far ones stay.

Another reimplementation of a 2021 sketch, where gooey blobs moved on Lissajous curves. Now they melt together into drops of dark glass. S/N: 2026.014 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #caustics

Ollin traces the caustics, the light the glass bends onto the table. It splits that light by color like a prism, so little rainbows spill out around the drops.

Another reimplementation of a 2021 sketch. Gooey blobs moved on Lissajous curves and left a trail of outlines. S/N: 2026.013 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #metaballs

Now the blobs are metaballs, soft shapes that merge when they get close, and Ollin stacks their outlines into a 3D solid with marching cubes. The flat top is the newest shape, and each white ring is an older outline.

Three lines moving on Lissajous curves. The colors come from a complex logarithm, implemented in a shader with Ollin's complex number helpers. Each pixel adds up the angles from one end of each line to the other. S/N: 2026.012 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #complexNumbers

I made this with Ollin, a creative coding framework for Swift and Metal. I wrote it for my sketches and use it every day. It is open source, in case anybody wants to play with it: ollin.art

Another reimplementation of one of my old sketches from 2021: the ends of two lines move on Lissajous curves, swinging at random speeds. S/N: 2026.011 #creativeCoding #generativeArt #dailySketch #ollin #lissajous

Each line is added as light, like a long exposure, so the color builds up where it slows down. The space between them gets a Laplace fill in Ollin: each empty pixel becomes the average of its neighbors.
