Listening to "Lessons in Magic and Disaster" by @charliejane.bsky.social and I just want to say how much slyness the narrator (Marisa Calin?) manages to inject into the words "by a Lady".
The event is called The Bread and Roses Bash, and it begins at 7pm at the I Fell Building (415 W 4th St). Tickets start at $10: bloomingtondsa.org/bash
@standupmaths.bsky.social That beard-growing gag was just *mwah* 😙🤌 Question: Did you intentionally use a shot with a car driving by in the background? Or was that something you discovered in the edit?
Today (5/1): First of May @jonathancoulton.bsky.social Tomorrow (5/2): No Pants Day Saturday (5/3): Free Comic Book Day Sunday (5/4): Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be With You) Monday (5/5): Cinco de Mayo It's gonna be a packed weekend!
Finally finished The Shadows of the Apt series (audiobook version). Took me awhile; I wonder if @aptshadow.bsky.social wrote anything else while I was listening. *checks internet* ... oh dear
I'm exaggerating for humor here. I'm not really able to read through an entire series one book after another, so even though I finished "Empire in Black and Gold" back in 2022, I've also read or listened to many many other books, even some that weren't written by @aptshadow.bsky.social
Sometimes I want to know about a thing, but I don't have the right words to do a web search. So I'm asking my favorite linguistics communicators to see if they can help. @gretchenmcc.bsky.social @superlinguo.bsky.social 1/4

@12tone.nebula.tv I was watching one of your recent videos, and a little footnote popped up, and I was happy to see that it stuck around long enough for me to read it. Later, there was another one, but it was gone before I could read it. 1/4

$6 haul from the Monroe County Public Library book sale, including books by @badmachinery.com and @skottieyoung.bsky.social Also, I found a mint-condition, fancy-ass hardback "Dictionary of the Khazars" (male edition) hiding in the reference section. Also "The Right to Arm Bears".
I don't "hear" when I type; I don't feel like I'm transcribing sounds. So I'd expect that merging "look" with "let" would come out as "lek". There's no c in either word. The only reason the c is there in the non-word "leck" is as a "phonetic" spelling of the phonetic merging of "look" and "let". 2/3
