Broodgarden's rival colonies used to be numbers. This week they became colonies: their ants walk the same garden yours do, have to find food before they can eat it, carry it home a load at a time, and strip the patches you were heading for. #indiedev #strategy

Havermill used to have a fox, a rabbit, a deer and a duck, each just circling a spot. This week we gave the village thirteen wild animals that actually live there - herons by the water, hares in the fields, a stag with his hinds. Genuine behaviour, not pen strokes. #gamedev #cozygames

Wrayness Pier at eight in the evening, in the rain. Air hockey, the strength tester, a food kiosk and the swing boat, and not a punter about. Photo mode lets you pick the hour. #screenshotsaturday #tycoon

Chapter 10 of Bunker 407 is the anniversary. Same Saturday chapter 9 ended on, three slow knocks, the wheel yours to turn. Written and voiced like the rest of the script, not just logged as a date passing. #indiedev #survivalgame

Shirewalk: Shallowford, seventeen tiles in. A water tile is held over the hex where it scores seven, the next three tiles are already on show, and the stepping stones mark the ford across the river. #screenshotsaturday #puzzlegame

No Cure, No Pay's title music just changed. The old track was too upbeat for the game; the new one is quieter, piano over a dark pad, closer to the mood on the title screen. Small swap, better fit. #gamedev #strategy

Havermill Common now shifts colour with the day: rose at dawn, amber in the golden hour, silver under the moon. Low sun catches a rim of light on every tree and roof edge. Still rough โ€” feedback welcome. #gamedev #citybuilder

Broodgarden has real sound now: licensed music, park birdsong by day, two different cricket recordings by night, and a muffled bed of park and drips under the nest. Day and night finally sound like different places. Everything that isn't ours is credited in the game. #indiedev #strategy

No Cure, No Pay, turn five, and it's the thing's turn. Reyes is down, the fire has taken 414 credits of salvage, and the tally on the right is what this turn has cost so far. Three turns to drag Reyes out. #screenshotsaturday #turnbased

The Blag: Six Crews, turn one at the pawnbroker's. The plan down the right is your deck in the order it'll come, never shuffled. The roller shutter is braced, the pawnbroker and the beat copper are looking away, and Heat is still at zero. #screenshotsaturday #deckbuilder

Digging in Broodgarden turns things up now. Finish a chamber or break a tunnel through and the ground might pay out: a cache, a carcass, a hoard, rarely a relic. The deeper you cut, the more often it pays. Deep enough, you might hit groundwater or a burrow that's still occupied. #indiedev #strategy

Rival colonies in Broodgarden used to just fight. Now they trade, buy off stronger neighbours, and once they've researched it, try to stir up discord in your own nest. Break a weaker one and a sharp rival takes it as a vassal instead of crushing it. #indiedev

"A bird swooped and snatched a forager!" Broodgarden tells you what happened to your ants, not what your statistics did. One ant, named, gone โ€” and the line that says so is the same width as the one about the nest getting filthy. #indiedev #strategy

The other half of Broodgarden is above ground. The nest is where the fungus is farmed and the brood is raised. The garden is where the food comes from โ€” and where the other colonies are. #indiedev #strategy

A place in Salt and Honey is a stage, not a menu. Everything you can do stands somewhere in the picture โ€” the brambles, the salt pans, the oven, the bench, the way out. People stand in it too, and you walk over to them. Artwork, not a screenshot. #indiedev #cozygames

Salt and Honey is a quiet game about a cold English coast in late autumn. A village called Brackenmouth, a few people who live there, and work that pays slowly. Detectorists rather than fantasy. Artwork, not a screenshot. #indiedev #cozygames

Havermill Common is a valley whose town is the customer. Everything above what the village keeps goes out on the day's carts, and that is the only money you make. Feed it, and it grows into whatever you built. #indiedev #citybuilder

Concept art for Bunker 407 โ€” the air plant. Three systems keep the bunker alive and you can only tend one a day, at the machine itself. This is the one nobody is left to look after after the second morning. #indiedev #survivalgame

The dial in Wrayness Pier has no green zone, no marked middle and no percentage. Each machine carries its own fair norm โ€” about 72% back on a pusher, a 12% win rate on a claw. Patrons judge against it. You never see it. #indiedev #tycoon

Wrayness Pier is a British seaside arcade that has to earn its rent honestly. Every machine has a dial. Tighten it and you take more per go. Tighten it too far and people stop coming back โ€” and nothing on screen tells you where the line is. #indiedev #tycoon

Every direct action in War of Inches โ€” bombs, freezes, repairs, choosing a node, ordering a unit โ€” hung off one mouse branch. A finger only reached it through emulation, the same emulation that makes every tap fire twice. So the battlefield now reads touch itself. #indiedev #rts

A colony in Broodgarden can drown in its own food. Chambers grant capacity, and anything past the cap is lost โ€” so a good forage with nowhere to put it is waste. Build the store before you need it. #indiedev #strategy

War of Inches: your own defence network turned on you. Push it back to where it started. Lane battles, a node grid, and a skirmish you set up yourself โ€” enemies, hazards and modifiers chosen before a shot is fired. #indiedev #rts

The climax of a run used to be the one part that never varied โ€” every job in The Blag: Six Crews's history ended in the City Vault. Three more buildings, one per tier. There are two ways to finish now, and the job list goes from 4 to 18. #indiedev #deckbuilder

Pulled every term out of No Cure, No Pay that the how-to-play screen quotes โ€” ATTENTION, the DORMANT to HUNTING ladder, STAB, HAUL, CUT, FIRE โ€” so none of them can drift away from what the guide says they mean. #indiedev #turnbased

The Long Field can be photographed part-played now, which sounds like a tooling note and is really a promise: every picture of it from here shows a real board, at a real score, that the game agrees is reachable. #indiedev #puzzlegame

No cure, no pay. Every turn has a price on it before you take it. Wages, whatever you spent, and repairs for whatever it is about to do โ€” and if it is not in your coverage, the damage line just reads a question mark. #indiedev #turnbased

Brackenmouth exists now โ€” in four inks, on paper. The ground in Salt and Honey is a plane rather than a line, so the places move as you walk through them instead of scrolling past. #indiedev #cozygames

Bunker 407: thirty years underground. Your brother went up for a filter core and did not come back. Three systems โ€” food, water, air โ€” one of you, and no gauge anywhere. (Concept art โ€” the build is still greybox.) #indiedev #survivalgame

We cut the travel map out of Salt and Honey, because it turned a person walking through a place into a token sliding along a diagram. You leave somewhere by walking out of it now. Leave rightwards and you arrive on the left of the next place, so a journey reads as one walk. #indiedev #cozygames

Bunker 407 has no meters. You find out how the bunker is doing by standing in it. A failing system goes quiet rather than alarming: bad air is light that cannot hold steady, and the crop going brown. (Concept art โ€” the build is still greybox.) #indiedev #survivalgame

Undo in The Long Field goes one placement deep and no further. An undo stack would turn choosing into searching, and the choosing is the game. One step back is a correction; ten is a search. #indiedev #puzzlegame

The Long Field: twenty-four fields, each one the same every time. The bag is never shuffled, so a better score is a better round, not a luckier one. Lay the land one tile at a time, and every tile must touch the last.

Our glossary tool found two terms in No Cure, No Pay: "No Cure" and "No Pay". Its own title, split at the comma. It only matched Title Case. The game does not shout in Title Case, it shouts in capitals โ€” so ATTENTION, STAB, HAUL and the whole DORMANT to HUNTING ladder were invisible to it.

Every job in The Blag: Six Crews is proved winnable before it ships. 20,657 of them, each checked by finding a real winning line and keeping it. If you lose, the job was beatable and you can go and find out how.

The Broodgarden demo stops where the game changes subject, not where a clock runs out. It ends after Growing Colony because the next tier opens daughter queens, and the one after opens attack squads. Building a colony is the demo. What you do with one is the game.

Broodgarden is a real-time ant colony that will starve while you are looking at it. You found it, you feed it, and you try to outlast the garden. No ads, free demo, one purchase and full game.

Wrayness Pier opens in 1975 and can still be trading in 2026, so nothing in it has a fixed price. Rent, wages, the electricity a machine burns while it's on, and what a go costs. All held in 1986 money and converted to the year you're standing in. #indiedev #godot

Screenshot Saturday โ€” a mill at the ford in Havermill Common. Everything in this game is painted rather than drawn, and every building is whole from all four sides, because you can turn the valley round. Villagers still insist on laying paths over lakes though. #ScreenshotSaturday #indiedev #godot

Every tactic in a War of Inches battle - bomb, freeze, repair, convert - could only be reached on a phone through Godot's mouse emulation, which is also what made every tap register twice. A finger reaches the battlefield directly now. #godot #indiedev

We put a game into the Godot Showreel this week: The Blag: Six Crews, two minutes of one heist, start to finish. It is the only place a small studio can be seen before it has a store page, and it costs nothing. If you build in Godot, the deadline is 1 October. #godot

You are up to date.
