Yo-Yo Ma is one of countless musicians who have refused to play at the Kennedy Center after its name and mission turned fascist, but here's a nice performance he did at the then-brand-new Kennedy Center with his sister when he was 7 years old. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiwk...

Have paid no attention to skiing at the Olympics this year, but I am suddenly a huge Eileen Gu fan.
Just seeing this clip now -- what a perfect response. Sure, they'd all love to get gold, but it's still an Olympic medal. It's an enormous accomplishment and any sports reporter who wants to sneer at that needs to be laughed at, just like this clown was.
RIP, Jesse Jackson. I'll never forget his "your patch is not big enough" speech at The 1988 Democratic National Convention, which gets my vote for the greatest speech ever given at a US political party convention. www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/f...
Brilliant analysis of where we are and how we got here, and applies more broadly than just in the US. The so-called resurgence of far-right politics around the globe is a mirage propped up via social media by self-serving shills on the right and cowardly doomsayers on the left. Fuck them all.
Trump has lost the culture. But what if the universal conventional wisdom—that he won the culture in the first place—was never true? What if our warped media environment, then Trump's victory, created an illusion of MAGA cultural dominance that is now slipping. This is a long one, so strap in.
These numbers strike me as inflated. Are there really three Londoners who would pay money to sit through Melania's life story?
'UK ticket sales for Melania are so far “soft”....Just one ticket has been sold for the first 3.10pm screening on Friday at its [Vue's] flagship Islington branch in London, while two have been booked for 6pm.'
Between scenes like this and the public execution on Nicollet Avenue this morning, feels like it's time to admit that the civil war has begun.
🚨“You’re gonna have to kill me!" Minneapolis protester SCREAMS as swarm of Border Patrol agents pin him to the ground. "I have done nothing at all! I am a United States citizen! You're gonna kill me! That's what you want! You want to kill me on this street!" LIVE NOW ⬇️

The US press has a lot to learn from the UK press about how to appropriately cover current affairs. www.ft.com/content/ad94...
After stripping the US down for parts, our billionaire overlords have shifted their sights southward. Time for a statement of concern from Hakeem and a sanctimonious finger wag from Bernie before the circus moves on to Greenland.
Trump on Venezuela: "We're going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper, and judicious transition"
Trump saying tariffs made the farm bailout possible reminds me of Leonard Cohen's 2009 Seattle show, when he thanked his longtime manager Kelley Lynch - who had stolen most of his money behind his back - "for making tonight both possible, and necessary."
Trump on his farm bailout: "This money would not be possible without tariffs ... because of tariffs, this is possible."
