Over December Iโ€™ll be posting 100 fun insights in this thread from working on @triplex.dev in my free time for two (!) years. Itโ€™s the longest and largest side project Iโ€™ve worked on. Keep an eye out, will be a fun one! #threadapalooza #threadapalooza2024

Triplex just became best friends with the Decal component. Effortlessly position it on your mesh โ€” then save back to code. Imagine doing this manually in code! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ #r3f #threejs #reactjs #webdev

After 1 year in the works, I will now start posting progress updates about my upcoming 3D multiplayer browser game, Mana Blade. Built with @threejs.org, @react.dev, React Three Fiber, and @bun.sh, it runs on WebGPU with WebGL fallback and works on mobile. Follow for updates! Try it on manablade.com

๐Ÿ‘† It's both React DOM & React Three Fiber being visually edited AT THE SAME TIME then saved back to your source code, are you not entertained? ๐Ÿ˜› #threejs #react #webdev #javascript

All props of any component (!) are represented in the UI! The only thing you need to do is type your components with TypeScript ๐Ÿ‘€ What's neat is it automatically updates if you change the props, perfect for bouncing between code first <> visual first development.

This powers the core of Triplex. Every piece of data is typed and can be subscribed to, with new data pushed whenever it's needed (you write the code for this!). 1. Create the server 2. Create the client 3. There is no step 3 Go to the repo, star it, and comment with your thoughts down below! ๐Ÿ˜

With Triplex for VS Code launching soon we're also going to open source some amazing things. Here's the first: Websocks, an end-to-end typed websocket API router for Node.js with clients for React and events. Follow this account and @triplex.dev to be notified when Triplex for VS Code launches.

What are you using to build your @reactjs components these days? Reloading your app in the browser? Storybook? Comment below ๐Ÿ˜

Fun fact: At the end I was talking about "project mode" or "entrypoints", so folks could just open their whole project up. That was superseded by the dynamic roots feature which lets you open any component inside Triplex (like regular React DOM components!). Now to get around to the nav mesh stuff

Iterating the Triplex selection system to "harmonious" status โ€” bridging two React reconcilers into a visual development environment.

Spent today walking through the baking process for all of my assets. Here are some screenshots of the demo level with sh lighting active on everything. Lots of tuning to be done, but promising :) #threejs #gamedev #creativecoding

Fun fact: Any time I need to round to a big number in Triplex, like timeouts, intrinsic sizes, anything, I round to the nearest THREE

Excited to present at SydJS this month, had to postpone last month. Working title: Dynamic Creatures & โ€จConcurrent Features.

The transitions not firing was interesting. In React 18 I had a transition start that was technically async (start transition -> iframe message -> get message back -> set state to trigger suspense). In React 19 that doesn't work anymore.
