Thirty years ago I was on a high-volume high-aggro mailing list, and when someone lost it like this the tradition was for someone to take the text of the message, alphabetize it, paste it into a reply, and say β€œthese words didn’t appear to be in any particular order so I alphabetized them for you”

Chances that anyone in Brazil and in game dev doesn't know Thais feel relatively low, but just in case: the results of Brazil's elections are going to heavily affect game dev as a viable cultural expression & viable career. It's a thread worth reading.

Portrait of Madame X is like 40 feet away from Washington Crossing The Delaware at the MET and it’s so much more haunting while Washington is this giant gaudy monstrosity that even the museum plaque is embarrassed by and makes you wanna move to another country.

my first 5 ttrpgs: 1. advanced heroquest. 2. ad&d basic set. 3. call of cthulhu. 4. vampire the masquerade. also, also run by a dirtbag. 5. would have to check timing but either 3e d&d or gurps.

Thank you for a wonderful first day back at MCM after a year away! Don’t remember having such a good friday in both sales & vibes. Looking forward to seeing the Saturday crowd. Here’s some of the medieval portraits/character comms :)

as much as i love genghis khan this is absolutely the most correct position and, further, red hare was the horse that can make anyone into a horse girl

my argument is that it's Lu Bu and my evidence is this

*extremely middle aged voice* one pair of my shoes is now only comfortable when I'm not wearing any socks with them. my feet cramp and my calves get exhausted when i wear them with socks. what oddly specific witch's hex am i labouring under???

my tongue is experiencing thirty days of acid all at once right now and this is but a fraction of the torment it deserves

North Mist is one of a few new homes for former BioWare devs. Do that thing where you follow them.

North Mist Studios@northmiststudios.bsky.social

Very heavy news as our former studio, BioWare closes its doors today. It was a formative place for many. However, many former BioWare devs are scattered around the industry. Find them, support them. Like, follow, comment and help us prove there is still support for the types of games we make!

i want to say a lot of things but what i will instead say is: if any studio exhibits "a kind of magic" that magic is a mixture of obsession, creatives clicking together in a collaborative way, and visionholders that trust their talent and are trusted by them.

this magic is fleeting. it doesn't need to be frozen in a specific talent pool, specific financial context, or specific place in the world. but it cannot be relied upon forever and must be fought for and understood to be preserved.

they're saying she's one of the best to ever do it (they is me)

i cast "truck nuts", quintupling the size of my vehicle. yeah, yeah, i know I'm taking one gallon damage per turn until i stop concentrating

i don't know how i did it but my youtube algorithm is now serving me the kinds of shorts i actually will watch: japanese railfans going over the history of coupling mechanisms with uplifting music and archival footage of the machinery in action

speaking solely for my own experience but, as an american military kid of the age i am, we had disney on vhs on tap everywhere i lived and few other enticing films. I'd rent nemo or NIMH or pick up matsumoto at the street market in berlin but disney was what we had at home.

I'm convinced that, at least for millennials, that this notion of Disney animated films being a universal childhood cornerstone is mostly post hoc marketing. I watched Little Nemo 50 times as a kid and The Little Mermaid once, but only one of those has a media giant reselling it to me for 30 years.

i think a thesis i can fully support, unifying mine and sen's experiences, is that the disney adult has extended an upbringing of being not-quite-a-disney-kid into being a full extension of their being. making up for lost time, in a sense, or trying to bottle youth by hanging the concept on disney.

or a disney adult who was a disney kid is maybe just peter panning, scaffolding the desire to never grow up on a core of their developing being. or (you know who you are, this is said with love) something from youth with too much meaning to let go forms a concrete and lasting attachment to disney.

i've probably seen certain disney films hundreds of times. i am not, however, a disney adult; i understand a presence of the disney channel is a critical component and we just never had it, and i detest Going Places and Doing Things and Being Seen so if I'm at the parks I'm sealed in space mountain.
