I hate when apps change their icon for a "spooky" month and think it's funny. A least let me change it back to the default icon.

If you have a YT channel and in your thumbnails you are not pointing at some thing with a stupid face - how can I even take you seriously?

Has anyone else seen this in Xcode 27? On a clean build AppExtensionPListGenerator writes an empty EXAppExtensionAttributes dict for @AppExtensionPoint.Bind , extensions are undetectable. I filled an Xcode feedback, but we all know how that goes.

Backstreet Boys are in town. So WTF do you do against a catchy tune in your head if you see every couple of meters a T-Shirt with “Tell me why” and “I want it that way”?

Unbeliebte Meinung: keine staatlichen Subventionen oder Steuersenkung beim Benzin/Dieselpreis. Warum den Süchtigen den Stoff finanzieren? Lieber kurzfristig auf einen Entzug hinarbeiten.

I was using MunderDiffl.in and recently updated to the new 0.5.2 version. Suddenly even the free "community" version requires a sign in account. For a local app - WTF. Maintainer deletes all messages pointing that out on Discord. Yeah, that's how you win minds and hearts. #notRecommend

just tried the new #kinomap beta training display. overall more modern and quite nice. But man, do they need an experienced ux designer. sooooo many rough edges and difficult paths.

#Flixtrain holt zur DB auf. Naja, zumindest in Teilbereichen. Echt jetzt? Die Reservierung von 3 nebeneinanderliegenden Plätzen auf 3 unterschiedliche Waggons ändern? WTF 🤬

Half of Lego Reddit posts their BDP7 builds. Meanwhile my account says „your order is processing“ since 2 weeks. 😤

A little hiccup on the way. Lego canceled my order. Guess what. Never use PayPal when preordering a few month early and the seller intends to charge you only when your order is ready to ship, as it should be. Huge props to the @Lego customer support sorting it all out.

In anticipation of  TVs January series batch I started to read Necromancer. Want to be on top of the content when the bashing starts. Just kidding.  seems to have a lucky hand when adapting sci-fi books.

Building regulation: That's a tricky piece of land. You have to keep a safe distance on both sides. Owner: No problemo.

re/ Books app on iOS. WTF, it doesn’t render MathML correctly, respectively not at all. How? That is like ancient technology. Which proves my earlier point, no one at Apple actually uses the Books app to read on their devices. That is sad. 😔

This is getting ridiculous. The exploration path into how to implement a SPPF into my naive Early parser implementation let's me really consider instead writing an EXPRESS language pack for Tree-sitter. 🫣 Alice, I'm right behind you.

This feels like a massive side quest. It's fun and teaching, but I want to go back to the main story line. Does anyone have a suggestion? My main goal is, I need an AST of a schema spec in Swift. I have the schema spec (IFC) and the language grammar (EXPRESS, in some flavour of EBNF). What to do?

Love the FreeForm app on macOS, use it all the time. Would also love if  would love their product as well and give it some more love: - 3rd party mouse enabled zoom - actually controllable arrow lines for better rerouting - exact snapping if helper lines are enabled

New hobby weekend deep dive which keeps me busy into the week: ambiguity in Early parsers. So, if someone is keen enough to discuss ambiguity in parsing with regards to the Express specs language, I am all ears. And yes, I already asked the thinking machines, but guess what …

Always nice to search for a solution to a coding problem, finding a possible solution on StackOverFlow and, after some scrolling, see a „thank you“ comment from myself a couple of years ago 🫠

Kind of satisfying to bring an Early parser from 1.500+ sec (duuh 🙄) down to 0.5 sec. And yes, AI did help. Because sometimes a blind and a one-eyed one find a way too. In short: splitting the input -> concurrency -> state lookup -> eliminating protocol existentials -> batching did the trick

The shittiest UX on any Apple platform is the Books app. iCloud sync randomly deletes my books at the most inconvenient moments. In iCloud folders I can mark a document to keep on device, but no, not with Books. That’s how you know that no one at  uses the app and reads on their devices.

The worst part is not necessarily the reading experience, which is okayish. But that I can NOT trust the device to have my document ready when I need it.

Currently I have sync deactivated for Books and a dedicated folder in iCloud with offline marked documents. These are then copied to Books. This also deactivates any reading progress. So Books becomes just a dumb viewer. What a shit show.

Benchmarking different open models to run local on my machine. I thing I somehow like Dense models more than MoE models, at least for brainstorming or writing plans. Is there any „objective“ measure possible?

I absolutely HATE YouTube's auto-syncronisation feature. Can't turn it off. Total enshitification to extract subscription money.

Was jetzt charmant wäre: Ein Staatsoberhaupt, das sich klar dagegen positioniert, wenn der mächtigste Mann der Welt damit droht, eine komplette Zivilisation auszulöschen. "Mr. Trump, Sie überschreiten damit eine Grenze. Deutschland unterstützt solche Aussagen nicht.". Ehrenlosester Kanzler ever.

A very interesting thread on AI. The main question is, do I use AI to produce more low „go f**k yourself“ quantity. Or do I use it to improve the quality of my stuff.

"We used an AI to do this" is increasingly a way of saying, "We didn't want to do this in the first place and we don't care if it's done well." 21/

Personally I use it as a sparing discussion partner in exploring stuff, in order to better understand it. A failable discovery buddy, where I have to dig deeper into a topic to catch its errors. A kind of gamified „ha, I‘ll prove you wrong“.

Das erste mal bei Otto-Office bestellt. 1 Kilo gratis Altpapier dazu bekommen. Soll ich den Müll Retour senden? Wenn ich einen Katalog gewollt hätte, hätte ich wahrscheinlich nicht Online bestellt. Sondern wäre mit meinem Bestellformular losgezogen. Inklusive Durchschlag.
